Here's the news from NADA and Kelley Blue Book:

"Toyota recalls will cost owners in lower resale values" --

"Toyota owners could get walloped on their expected resale value over the automaker's alleged safety lapses, whether they own a vehicle being recalled or not.

That's the verdict of two carefully watched services, Kelley Blue Book and ALG, that make a business out of estimating the value of used cars. For decades, Toyotas have been among the strongest vehicles for resale value. But now, with safety shortcomings in some of the vehicles laid bare, it may become harder to resell their new cars when they go on the used-car market. Residual values could suffer."

Depends....on whether you own a Toyota or not.

I don't

But if people begin to "dump" their Yotodas, then they could really hit rock bottom.

Agreed -- one of the reasons I have bought Domestic vehicles for years.

Yes it will. Here in California all their cars are over priced anyway. Even the Prius here I saw the dealership window sticker cost 60 grand! I'm all for helping the world but I can't afford that fancy car at any price.

Won't matter to me...mine will all be driven 150-200k or more. They will be at the bottom of the depreciation scale anyway.

Since Saturn will be long gone...who will want one of those?

Such a shame, the Aura will run rings around the Camry in style, performance, refinement...you name it. Just a case of too little, too late.

Heard a low-blow radio ad yesterday here in East Tennessee. A local Nissan dealer has been "authorized" by the factory to give you "full trade-in value" for your "unsafe" Toyota! They will even come to your house and get your Toyota if you are afraid to drive it!! I know car dealers can stoop pretty low, but this is sad!

It's business.

And is it any worse than people crediting Toyota for allegedly making the decision to stop selling vehicles until the problem was fixed, when it was really an order by the government? I was listening to a local car-show on the radio this morning and the host was interviewing a local Toyota dealer and this "misstatement" was repeated once again.

I believe the gist of the statement is that the poster can now get a Corolla at a more reasonable price, should he/she choose to buy one now.....

Yeah, GM only had 2 decades to sell them. They made the mistake of putting the Saturn badge on junk and ruined the brand name. The company created b Roger Smith was an attempt to get away from the UAW dominance and create a different car company. The UAW won...filled the Tennessee plant with layed off slug workers discarded from their Michigan plants and now the company is no more.
