TOYOTA OIL DRAIN PLUG GASKET

Toyota blue washer is good, can be used multiple times, at least 2x. It is just ridiculously expensive from local German dealership. So, I go easy Autozone Dorman brands that I had been using for years for multiple unlimited oil change.

Amazon has the fake stuff. So I just by the blue felt washer from the dealer.
Btw, one side of the washer has thicker felt layer and it is supposed to face the drain pan.
Perhaps this is also why the washer is often stuck against the pan.

I dunno, I tried both ways, and they still loosened up. Maybe I'll try the ole " Dorman Help Rack " ( Does Dorman still have those ??? I luv'd those racks. Spin em round and round till you find what you need ) :) LOL I'm dating myself again :(.....old man...WAAAHHHH !!

I never had a problem with sticking or leaking with the Toyota gaskets over 15 years on my Lotus (Toyota engine) or now the Land Cruiser. In fact, I started using the Toyota gaskets on my old diesel Land Rover and on a few other 10mm applications. I buy a few extras when I visit the dealer for filters...not something I'd ever source from EBay or Amazon....

Hey, I tried the Scamazon ones. They are just a 10mm aluminum crush washer. Hecho en China. They don't loosen up or leak. It worked for MY particular application. May not work for everybody. My oil pans are old. ( 03' & 06' ). So maybe there is some seating damage to them over the years. And they are steel. So I take it back. The Scamazon's worked for ME....May not work for every body. I'm sorry :(....Now, take me down off the hangman's thingy. Don't kick out the chair under me :) LOL

I've just had and heard of too many negative experiences I've been driven to the dealers or very select aftermarket... EBay/Scamazon have their place tho(y)

Saw this thread a while back, did a recent oil change on a Camry and the drain plug was surprisingly loose. It had the blue felt Toyota gasket. Installed a new Toyota gasket without confidence. We'll see in a few months if I get it back for the next oil change. I might just start using copper for everything

Oh boy, have you come to the right thread. There is a mixed bag of EVERYTHING in this thread. Some have no problems, some have nothing but problems ( me ), some are using plain washers, some copper. What a mess. But yes, mine were also loosening up. Personally, I found on Scamazon, 10mm aluminum crush washers that work fine. But, EVERYBODY is different. I have an 03' & 06' steel oil pans. Good luck :)
