I'm curious who Toyota customers ARE, demographically. One of the articles claimed that most of the unintended acceleration incidents involved geriatric drivers. Are Toyotas especially popular with older drivers, as Cadillacs once were?


Around here, the Avalon is now the geriatric appliance of choice, sadly enough.

Whereas, it once was the Panthers, Town Cars, Caddies, and various Buicks.

Phenomenal, deadly effective, very highly paid ad/marketing companies, and textbook brainwashing.

People still buy cars from the big 3 even after the millions of recalls they've had. Does that make those people "brainwashed" too?

Some 20+ years ago, I introduced a lady to Honda. She had been driving Buick's(Cutlas'/Sierra's/Regals') for quite awhile and wanted something different, more reliable. I was reluctant to do so but, I mentioned Honda as another choice and she finaly bought a '90 Accord LX.

OMG! She hated it! Almost from the first month she owned it. She said it was loud, uncomfortable, stiff riding, underpowered, terrable in the snow etc. I had asked her if she test drove the car and she only test drove down the street from the dealership but, that's it!

The tires had to be replaced after only 23K and then things started to happen, one after another. IDK everything that went wrong. After 3 years, she got another Buick!

Never Again! Now, I only recomend forign autos to people if they have had nothing but problems with domestic autos. If not, don't change!
