The new white filter had a slightly thicker seal and taller pleats. Denso must have changed the filter media over the years. Old filter was replaced after six years and 10K.

I read this article a few days ago about DENSO having sold off it's ownership stakes in various other air filtration manufacturers to Toyota Boshoku. My understanding is that DENSO will still sell air filters with their name, but it will be a licensing thing rather than a direct manufacture stake.

The Toyota - Denso 17801-YZZ12 I bought a couple of years ago looks very much like the whitish one Mikey V. shows, but says Made in USA. It has 90 pleats.

Bought an air filter for my 07 Land Cruiser from the dealer - old filter Japanese Denso, new filter no name USA made - guessing Toyota Boshoku.

Next filter change may just by a Full brand air filter, Siam factory made in Thailand.
