Hi Guys,

Ive been looking up these 2 filters and trying to figure are there any differences to them. Some suggested one have an extra O ring, and then others says the A3 is a newer revision of the A1. Anyone know if there is actually any physical differences to these 2? differences in quality? are they interchangeable? Thanks in advance

That appears to be the situation from what I can tell A1 is cartridge with mandatory o-ring A3 supplying the smaller drain cap o-ring seal.

A3 is for Lexus RWD applications with the 2GR-FSE or 1UR-FE. But the aftermarket has it as an Fram 10158. A1 is the FWD 2GR/2AR filter, A4 is the tall 3UR filter, A6 is the tiny Corolla/Prius 2ZR filter.

thanks for the reply. I have a 2020 Lexus 450h and when I type the vin into lexus parts, it gives me the A1 filter. When I visit a dealer to buy filters, the dealer gives me A3 filter. Are the interchangeable? should i switch it immediately?

not very efficient to have 2 skus that are basically the same. Even price is the same if Im not mistaken.

The filter is the same it's just the A3 doesn't come with the drain tool or drain plug o-ring. The A6 filter doesn't come with these either.
