Toyota 4runner rear end noise ?

Hey guys, got a 99 4runner 2wd with 203k, for the last couple of months I have got a ( cluck, cluck, cluck noise) from underneath the rear end, sounds like it is coming from where the driveshaft goes into the differential, the noise only appears when I left off the gas and when I'm doing 20 mph and below , like when I'm coming to a stop, never here it at all when I'm on the gas at any speeds, it sounds like something might be loose and you only hear it when you are off the throttle, any ideas ?

I forgot, New front and rear U joints about 6 months ago,

Crawl underneath it and try your hardest to wiggle the driveshaft nearest where it inputs the rear end. This is your pinion shaft housing, the pinion shaft rides on bearings which can wear out/go sloppy. I would next open the oil fill port and check your lubrication level. A common source for rear end component failure is lack of lubrication, check for any sign of leaks too. If you are indeed very low or out of oil any number of things could be faulty.

Sure sounds like a UJ
How many clucks per wheel rotation?

I once had a UJ fail after only 2500 miles, I was going crazy because I was sure the UJ's were good.

Is your 4 runner 'Jacked up' to increase the ride height? this can really kill UJ's

Also check UJ flange bolts for looseness.

Not really sure bout how many clicks, I would say 2 to 4, the 4runner is stock, the u joints were from napa

So to me, that would suggest a click each Drive shaft rotation.
Again pointing to the UJ.

Internal noises from the Diff are more a low pitch Clunk than a Click.

Do you know exactly how much gear oil you have? Most Toyota trucks I work on have had the gear oil neglected, and the insides of the differential got rusty.

Another question, does this truck have LSD? LSD failures can cause various noises.
