Toyota 4runner oil ?

I was thinking about running Rotella T Synthetic 5w40 in my "06" 4.0 V-6 Toyota 4runner this summer esp when I tow my 5,000lb camper would this be a good oil to run or would I be better off staying with the 30wt oils? The truck has about 110K on it rt now by the way.

You should be fine with the Rotella T6, there are other T4R 4.0L owners using this oil with great results. You may see a slight increase in fuel consumption. I'm approaching 100K miles on mine and the thicker 30wts seem to run quieter. Running GC 0w30 right now.

I've run Mobil 1 in mine since the third oil change or so. I chose Mobil 1 after seeing some great used oil analysis of it in 1GR-FEs. I have been running Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w30 in it for probably the last 50k (ran Mobil 1 5w30 before that). I have found no reason to switch. 85k on mine and I anticipate it lasting forever.

Over kill if you ask me. Stick to the 30W's and your 4.0L will serve you well.

Try GC now and it will shear down by summer and still provide the protection you seek while towing.

I'm running GC right now in a 1997 4Runner 2WD Limited 3.4 and it runs smooth. I took it up to 108mph just last week on an abandoned mining road.

Or if you want a heavy duty oil then try Rotella T5 10w30.
