so do you use deflecting beam? seems like it would have the same problem. or do y'all just go full-hog and get a digital wrench?

Oddly enough, I also bought a spare $10 3/8 from taiwan, and it was spot on, all through the range..

They supply to SO. I have the 3/8 and love the durability and not having to store at lowest setting. Buy once and forget it. No way I would spend money on ICON when you can get USA made for around the same price!

Today, April 7, the PI 1/2 drive 250 ft-lb T-wrench is $146.25 at Amazon, as of 9:40 AM PST. Last week it was around $170.00.

I've been needing a good 1/2" torque wrench; might have to give that one a try.

I'd say go for it! I have one, it was well worth the money.

Here is Stahlwille's quick adjust system on their 730 torque wrench (1 minute video) using a slider instead of a rotary knob. The price for a 200 Nm (148 ft-lb) wrench is not crazy, around $210 at Amazon. Wrench does not require setting to zero for storage.
