Top electric vehicle registrations in Europe by company, April 2025

Elon is different. He directly injected himself in politics and became face of it. Then, he became face of cuts etc. History won’t be kind to him especially bcs. of slashing programs like PEPFAR which was huge (and that is understatement) achievement of Bush Jr administration.
Celebrities get involved in politics, do fundraising or say stuff on concerts and move on. He became face of it. So he pissed off mostly group that was supporting him (that supposed to stop when he went after those divers in Thailand, who didn’t want to stroke his ego) Now, he is pissing off people that he tried to make some inroads with.
It is impossible to explain here how politics works among people in Europe. They are far more engaged than people in the US, and generally far more educated not only about generally politics, but US politics than Americans. So, when he made that dumb decision to support AfD, he did it because he didn’t understand how hot of an issue AfD is in Germany. He looked at that from American, not German perspective. And Tesla paid the price.
He should just leave Tesla for Tesla’s sake. Space X does good job, so far, in keeping leash on him but who knows.
He should just quit media all together.
Good post, he will always do what he does.
Owning Tesla stock is just a portion of his wealth and he is just an employee of Tesla. Over a decade ago he was booted out as CEO of what is called PayPal.

There’s no doubt he can put together companies, but I think for the long-term prospects he moves on to the benefit of the company

I mean the show on X right now. He just can’t let it go.

I just learned the show on X right now
In one day, he turned himself into an enemy of the president of the United States. after what must just said, it will never be reversed.
Good news for the public is maybe we will definitely get rid of these tax credits for electric vehicles

None of his statements help the shareholders of the company which is supposed to have his fiduciary responsibility to.

I don’t think FSD will be the thing to save Tesla. What I’ve found in online conversations, particularly Facebook is that the biggest proponents of FSD saving Tesla have never owned a Tesla, have no intention of owning a Tesla, and have only ridden in an FSD driven Tesla a couple of times.

While I think FSD can help push additional revenue from buyers, they’ve got to find a way to put more butts in seats to start with. I still don’t think the cars themselves are the problem. I think a lot of this is CEO inflicted. Beyond that Tesla can get more owners like me to pay for FSD, but I don’t think FSD is consistent enough for me to trust it. Not only that, but it just doesn’t work at all in fog, heavy rain, or snow that would obscures lane lines. Kind of hard to call it full automation when it works only 90% of the time. Now I know it still requires supervision for now, but we’re supposed to be only a month away from unsupervised in Austin. I don’t think that means they somehow figured out the rain and the fog issue. Not to mention the system relies so heavily on lane lines to drive.

I disagree. I think FSD is wonderful! I have 755 miles on my car and while I don’t know where to see the stats on it, probably 90% of those miles are with FSD. Once the three month free trial is up I will probably cough up the $100/mo to keep it.

That’s been my point. It’s great in some places. I’ve used it when it has been amazing. None of those places are remotely close to where I live. I’ve not had a good experience around my own area.

It lacks quite a bit of refinement in inputs that feels jerky to me too. I think a lot of that has to do with its indecisiveness because it doesn’t know how to act on the roads that rarely see FSD. I lost patience being one of the few people to make it learn. I’m not paying for that privilege. Now if they wanted to give me it to help gather data, I might use it 10% of the time. I’m not giving them free research. It would be different if it hasn’t been such a pain for me to use.

My favourite EV! Please let me know his impressions.
He drives it home today.
I guess sometime in the future i’ll get a better picture this is still at the plant

That is a great color too.
I know you like red!
I used too had a red car or two but my taste changed a couple decades back.
This is his first red one and I got to say it looks pretty sweet. The "beige" interior goes well.
I have not seen it in person and most likely will be a month or two before I do as we just recently got together.

He will send me photos when time. Got it after was done working yesterday and back at work today.

@OVERKILL
In addition to the above, I spoke to him at work today. He told me if I thought his gas X3 M50 was fast, this one will freak me out it's so powerful. I actually got a very brief headache in the X3 when he accelerated.

He didn't stop talking about the power is all I know right now. His first electric (he has for fun rented a Tesla for a few days a while back) and I know the others are in that 0 to 60 range and better.
He said it also has the "launch control" which was surprising in an EV. Again, he hasn't had time to play with it much and told me he doesn't know much about the EV version of it.
I suspect you are more interested in fit and finish and he is really ANAL about that. I'll get back in time, could be a while, dont know.
When I am with him we walk by cars in a store parking lot for example, and he will point on mis aligned panels on certain vehicles passing by without stopping saying I wouldn't see that on a BMW. He's honest too and will talk about things that BMW can slip up on but the vast majority are the other brands, though he also compliments some others as well. Meaning he is balanced in what he sees

Its gorgeous.
I vicariously live through his cars. :)
BMW changes the amount of time he has them, I think he will have this one at least 6 months. There is a mileage limit when he has to trade it out, he preorders the car he would like next a few months in advance. Part of the employee lease program which is a sweet deal even more so if your into vehicles like he is.

It's funny, I used to dislike red. Now I have my third red vehicle. First with any metallic in it. I think I was just doing it wrong. Standard gloss red isn't it and it was just the car available at the time I wanted to buy. Now I give red a second look, especially with a good deep metallic/pearl. The BMW looks like it will look exceptional in the sun.

This thing reminds me of " candy apple red " that you rarely see anymore because it's so hard to get on right.

I just saw this on USA Tesla registrations (along with GM, Ford BMW etc)
GMs increase of 215% some will state that it is still only 9000+ EVs but everything starts someplace, we saw the same type of talk about Tesla in the beginning. Long term sales pattern will be key.

With that said, Tesla would have liked to have that extra 9000 cars in the USA.

Not all all knocking Tesla its just an example of market forces. They are not the only game in town anymore and it will be interesting as we move into the next few years what takes place. I mean, dropping sales numbers are very bad in a new sector of the market I would think and these are double digit drops.

On top of everything else OVERALL USA EV sales dropped in April 2025 from a year ago. I find that shocking. One must remember we still give away $7,500 in FREE taxpayer money for USA qualifying electric vehicles.

Typically we talk on the phone, text all the time. I guess he is out playing in the car after work too much right now.
I told him to send some photos in the sunlight and the interior after he sent this one poor one in his the garage.
I do know that BWM (Im almost certain) feedback from customers is they like physical controls (I do too) and it looks like a full compliment of them in the poor photo he took 😖
I will admit, I am looking forward to the next time I seem him, it will be a while though. Im liking that tan with the red exterior.

We might not be that lucky. If you check M539Plus' YT channel (it's M539Restorations' "less official" channel, he does a quite on-point "comments" section on the brand new X5 he rented, and shows the "buttons".

Turns out on that model they are shaped to look like buttons, but it's actually a single plastic panel with vague button shapes molded into it. Picture a chocolate tablet with each square being a supposedly separate button.

When a button is pressed, the whole panel moves, and there's still a haptic sensor behind each button shape to figure out the details.

BMW has historically been completely deaf to client input in the last 7-8 years, other than a half-lipped semi-acknowledgement that the beaver-tooth grille was too much (after first wholeheartedly suggesting that those who don't like it should go pound sand).

The harm is done with their "Ipad glued on dash and forget about knobs" cabin design policies, and the problem is that this infection is spreading to other brands as well.
