Top electric vehicle registrations in Europe by company, April 2025

Now I am driving an Audi S4 Quattro and parked up the Subaru for the summer so I can free some time up to work on the old Viggen.
Very nice real leather (not cheap vegan plastic crap) plenty of knobs and buttons and a 6 speed stick.

That is pre-dieselgate Audi. They seriously fell behind as an consequence of cost cutting.

See, there's your problem. You just assume everyone should know and your expenditure should be funded.

When I ask the boss for money, he expects a clear reason on why I need it. He likely knows why already, but if I can't clearly articulate the reason, then maybe its me with the issue, not him.
Don’t worry. It is funded through private foundation. So, you can keep your $0.00000000000000001 and feel better about it.
There are people actually who don’t mind funding future military leaders of this country.

No, the problem is that everyone thinks they should be given answers without putting some thought on their own first, and that they are entitled to these answers.

Precisely. It's between you and your boss. You don't have people from out of state calling your boss asking why he's about to give you money. Both of you are at least vaguely aware what it's about.

Ideally - why public funding is needed for something is information made available by the requestor, and is to be checked by the one who asks before they ask directly, and in a hostile way, like they just blew the cover on the scam of the century.

So, I use FSD a lot in my Tesla. Yesterday I drove all around the Bay Area for like four hours. Except for in parking lots where it goes slow I had FSD on the whole time. It worked great.

How is this relevant? Hang in there…

If you have FSD on, and you take your attention off the road for more than a few seconds, it knows. Texting on your phone? It gets mad. Playing with the screen of the car? It gets mad.

Ultimately, it’s very safe. FSD is safe, at least on HW4, and it forces you to stay attentive. Distraction is not permitted.
My only issue with FSD is that relies so heavily on road lines and tries to stick too them so well. It's what causes my issue using it on undivided highways. It tries so hard to stay in the middle of the lane to the point that it ignores the idea of getting right away from cars. Abnormalities in lane lines will cause FSD to jerk the wheel. While I've not had it happen, there have been a few documented instances of FSD yanking cars into oncoming traffic lanes. The car won't allow that if it sees an object so I don't think it would hit an oncoming car or attempt the move with traffic there.

Obviously not the point you were making, but is likely one of the reasons FSD is so adamant that the driver is paying attention.

I don't trust automated driving yet. One of the locals was killed when his Tesla came to a fork in the road and crashed.
They're pushing it beyond it's capabilities. I think it works well in some areas, but it's quicker to commit than ever even when it is wrong. They've programmed in impatience that will run red lights after a few minutes if it doesn't detect cross traffic.

This is not a Lada. It's a Fiat Polski.

Made in Poland. Bigger engine, rear leaf springs, four disk brakes.
Better than a Lada in many ways, but reliability was even worse.
It's a much closer port of the italian Fiat 124, and it was made everywhere - Turkish Tofaz 124, Egyptian Nasr, Indian Premier 118, a Spanish Seat version, etc.

The Lada actually had some Soviet work put into it compared to the original Fiat, it was not a 100% clone.
Excellent knowledge!

Actually, the S upholstery is available in fabric/synthetic leather or Alcantara/synthetic leather.

The simple fact that you think that government and companies are the same thing is sign enough that you can't have that discussion.
The simple fact that you think I think government and corporations are the same thing is sign enough that you can't comprehend the conversation.

The fact government isn't a corporation which has to prove itself every day is why inefficiency breeds inefficiency. And NASA is so inbred they can no longer launch men into space.

Good thing this isn't occurring in the motor oil industry.

It is a policy for NASA to contract space flight. After space shuttle, it was basically taken away from NASA by congress and Obama administration to make it more competitive and cheaper.
You can’t develop space vehicle if you don’t have funding for it.
On other hand, Webb works excellent.

Wasn't NASA told by the government to no longer work on sending people in space and leave it to private comanies which had to be encouraged ? Didn't said private companies receive billions over billions from that same government - which could otherwise have gone to NASA ? **** if you do, **** if you don't.

There's no explaining till you see it, a country with a government that is dead or dying. I've seen it. I pray that you don't.

The key word being is available for those that want it, a lot of people prefer cloth and plastic seats for one reason or another and I get that. How many of these options are available on Tesla even the model S?

I'd kill for cloth seats that keep all the bells and whistles of top of the shelf leather ones. Heating, ventilation, the works.

In the nineties Renault used to have an Initiale series on the Laguna that had upholstery combining leather and linen fabric. T'was beautiful.
A friend bought one, and it got stolen after 3 months. Found the next day - the only things missing were the seats and the door cards. Basically the Initiale-specific stuff.
Insurance got a quote for the repairs: 87000 Francs. About $14k. The car retailed at 117000 Francs 😊.

He said go for it, so they ordered the parts. Turned out those come at a drop by drop rate, and after waiting for four months and still no parts - he got his money back and bought an Audi instead. No linen exotics on that one.

You know there are very few options in Teslas. I don't think there has been any real leather in the cars since perhaps 2019. Tesla is not trying to be like other car companies. If you want full leather seats, don't buy a Tesla because that's not what they are about.

The seats in our car are excellent and the "vegan leather" is buttery soft.

NASA is one of those "countries with a government that is dead or dying." Had trouble keeping the Shuttle operational. Let other countries provide our critical space needs realizing it was no longer capable.

Supposedly NASA's pet contractors would be able to provide what NASA inbreeding can no longer provide. But contractors who serve government mirror government's organization and thinking so as best to appease their government customer. Spent half of my career inside watching this. Boeing is having a lot of trouble trying to produce a quality product these days. How about that Starliner?

The original Model S in 2012 had a Detroit style plethora of options. IIRC 3 seat options, all leather. Several dashboard options. Sound/entertainment system options. Sunroof. Optional folding mirrors. Since that time Tesla has significantly reduced the number of orderable options.

My Model Y had the option of black or white seats.

I rather like the seat material in my 2023 Model Y over the leather of my 2013 Model S.

Also like the cloth seats in my F-150 XLT.
