I still in most cases prefer buttons as well. I just have reached the inevitable conclusion that that cars I like are getting rid of them and don’t see it as much of a downside as I used to.I appreciate physical buttons, I think most of the public does too

Of course, those buttons are more costly, but some manufacturers have gone back to them. BMW, which started to eliminate them got backlash.
More stuff to fail, or stop being "updateable" at some point. Like I said, planned obsolescence. They all do it.Everything’s disposable. Why make it more expensive? If the screen not working affects your climate control, you’re not going to know how fast you’re going anyway, well that would be a problem if I couldn’t control everything from my phone and see the vehicle speed in the worst case that the screen gets broken and I need to get it somewhere to replace it.
Heck if want I can even change my music, climate, and various other options from the app in my phone.
It’s been that way for many years. The device I’m typing this on is disposable. I’m just done lamenting what we no longer have. I’d rather enjoy the advancements we have now because I don’t have much say in it. I lamented the loss of buttons in the new GTI. I decided to buy something that had proper UI and better integration if I had to have a giant tablet in a car. If I have the car 15 years it’ll have 300k miles on it. No one will want it at that point anyway. Let’s face it, nothing lasts forever and I’m done cobbling together and soldering failing switches and boards back together on 20 year old cars. I did that long enough. Now that I don’t have to I’m never going back to that if it’s not just a weekend project. I’m not relying on that daily. If I want to maintain my employment there are costs involved. Still, my Frontier knobs I can take apart and solder a new $0.99 pot onto the board if I was desperate. Multi layer surface mount board - no chance. I realize most people couldn't and don't care.
Is what it is. Lots of stuff coming out now will be in the landfill in 10 years.

When I visit German I see many Skoda's - or maybe I just notice them because there different. The styling I think is really good, and there apparently pretty cheap.Skoda was owned by the Czech Republic and was privatized in 1991 during the fall of communism. It was eventually absorbed by Volkswagen by 2000. They are made in the Czech Republic and also make components for Volkswagen.

A numbers of articles said that China has missed the boat for the USA market. Both saic and Cherry automotive had at one time purchased empty dealerships with the intention of bringing their products over. Chinese manufacturers needed to have vehicles in customers hands by the early 2010s at the latest if they had planned on gaining market share.You're assuming China is going to take over GM in the USA. I dont see it happening just as every overseas car manufacturer has failed.

It's also a matter of convenience. Think of this scenario. Want to adjust your HVAC in your automobile? All you have to do is push a button instead of scroll through screens while driving. It's distracting and a theory as to why "Tesla has the highest FATAL accident rate" in the USA. I dont think coincidence they have the least amount of physical controls.Oh for sure. I just don't trust all the electroncs for that type of stuff.

Eliminating waste in government, and transparency in what government is throwing money at is asinine? Musk simply applied the same techniques which have created several of the most exciting and innovative companies of the century.I think for the most of the world what Tesla offers has nothing to do with its vehicles itself aside from the Cybertruck. If anything the minimalist interior is one of its best features. They’ve just shot themselves in the foot over the CEO’s asinine activities.
