Hi Guys,

I was just installing new wheels ... and they were thinner then old ones...
Once I put them on ... I reversed car jumped down like wheels where falling off ...

Checked wheels and pulled back to the driveway car jumped again ...

Then I realized that bolt went in to the hub/parking brake ...

ordering the little gears/springs, shoes .. to fix it ?

any other damage I should expect ?

Thank you

Holy Cow !

How much thinner are the hubs on the new wheels ?

Assume you were going from stock wheels to aftermarket, which brand/model ?

Well, that's why aftermarket wheels often require application-specific lug bolts.

A 5mm+ to long .... My bad not trying to turn wheels after slapping them on...

Hopefully repair kit/ new shoes will resolve the problem.
Currently its squeaking when driving ( back on old wheels )

I'm assuming this is a drum in hat type parking brake, if so, I wouldn't drive it any. That noise you are hearing might be the mangled remains cutting up the brake disc, or damaging other expensive parts, like the hub.

Yup, drum brake.

Ordered new parts: shoes, clips, spring, gear...
I will tear it apart on Wednesday.

Not going to drive car until then.

parking brake still works ... So I guess damage is not that bad
