To seal or not to seal driveway

Remember that a new unsealed driveway will soak it up like a sponge. It's soaks up less and less on subsequent sealings. Just so you are prepared for that if and when you get an estimate. They guy isn't trying to scam you when he tells you that, the materials cost will be higher when new.
 
I have seen rubber rope you push into cracks and then melt with a propane torch. Looks like it might work but have never tried it

It works extremely well. I have some that I put down over ten years ago.
It is a good thing that it is as long lasting as it is though. It is a PITA to put down.
 
I do the same thing with my concrete driveway after I pressure wash it. I put a clear sealer on it...It keeps it cleaner longer because the water does not soak into it..
