I just picked up a can of LM moS2. I will be adding it to my girlfriends 2.0 Jetta next OCI. The 2.0 has a 4.3 quart sump. The label says to use .50 ml per liter. So I would use 200 ml of it. If I poured the whole 300 ml can in with 4.0 quarts. I would be fine right?

Thanks

I put a whole can in on my 4qt oil sump with no ill effects... it works quite well actually.

The only time you run into the whole too much moly thing is when the oil already has a lot in it, which in that case you just wasted a can of moly, because after a certain point it really doesn't do any good to add more.

This is how it was explained to me in simple terms. Lubro Moly is organic moly aka MoS2, a silvery powdered form of moly suspended in mineral oil. Soluble moly is a different form of moly used by most oil companies in oils that contain moly. MoS2 tends to plate to metal, soluble moly doesn't have the plating effect and tends to drain out when the oil is changed, organic moly sticks around a while. HTH

You will be fine.

Yikes, that's what I get for posting at 0200. MoS2 is inorganic moly, good call.

Organic generally would mean some kind of carbon-complexed Mo material MoS2 is not organic.

Id not run extra beyond what they recommend. They give that for a reason.

IMO if you use a full bottle at least once, half a bottle or 1 ounce/qt of oil should be fine after that. The mfg states a full bottle can be used at each OCI, but I think HTSS_TR has the right idea for future oil changes. JMO

For my 3.5 quarts on re-fill of the Civic, the 'exact' numbers are roughly 168 ml of 300 ml can for the 50ml/0.26 gal ratio. So, what I do is add at least half of the can if not slightly more, and save the rest for the 2nd oil change.
