I am going to do a cooling system flush later this week on my 1996 ford taurus and i was thinking about useing zerex G05. Is it safe to used G05 in place of conventional green coolant? This G05 is not going to rot out my radiator or do a deathcool number on it is it?

I would flush it thoroughly, drive with the new stuff for a couple weeks, then at least swap out the radiator a few more times. Even though G-05 is a hybrid (not straight organic) coolant, I wouldnt want them mixed.
even dexcool will work fine so long as its the only coolant in the system (dont let the quickie lube folks 'top up' your system and use green), and the level is kept properly.

Flush flush flush with disltilled water.....get as much of the old stuff out as you can. Calculate how much water remains in the block and figure out how much coolant/water to use according to the total system capacity.
The zerex G 05 is completely clear, so i'd suggest using the Ford Gold or Mopar 5yr coolant, which are dyed and are of the same formualtion as zerex G 05. I don't think they cost much more than the $9.99 zerex; easy readability would justify the cost for me.
I switched my 91 toyota previa to zerex G 05. All went well with many flushes of distilled water, but the only thing is that it is clear in the overflow tank so its hard to read teh level without a flashlight.

I bought 2 gallons of zerex G05 today and i thought it was really wierd that the zerex is clear
i know that would make it harder to see the coolant level. Anyway is there some kind of dye that can be used to color the coolant? I will make sure that it is thoughly flushed out before i put in the G05. Then i will make up a sticker to put on the coolant tank that says "WARNING! USE ZEREX G05 HOAT COOLANT ONLY! DO NOT USE OAT OR CONVENTIONAL GREEN COOLANTS!"
I use Easter egg dye in my overflow take and it works well. I like the idea of a label stating "use only" Ed
Dyes are pretty inert, so you shouldn't have a problem with them. I would recommend you use a yellow dye to avoid any confusion.
So I could use regular yellow food coloring you'd find in the supermarket with little worry? That be great because I just recently did a fill with zerex G 05 and its completely clear.
I was at walmart looking to buy yellow food coloring, but I looked at the ingredients, and propylyne glycol was listed!

PG will mix fine with EG for your purpose. You will need such a very small amount of dye anyway, that it won't matter. If you want the real G-O5 color, you can get your hands on some chromatint yellow from Chromatech Incorporated: (734)451-1230.
