I just bought a used BMW. It has green coolant in it. I don't know what kind it is or how long it has been in there. I plan on flushing it out with either BMW coolant or Zerex G05.

The G05 would be more convenient. I already have one car that uses it so it would be one less type of coolant in my garage. I can also get the G05 locally any day of the week at Pep Boys, where as the BMW parts department is not open at such convenient late hours and weekends.

Unless there is an advantage to the BMW coolant other than a neat color, I just assume use the G05. Any opinions?

I got G05 at Advance Auto. The coupon code worked on it, used the $40 off $100 so it was a filler.

G05 is a HOAT, but does have silicates. Does BMW recommend silicate free? If they don't care, rock on. If they do, look for a silicate free Asian blend, or perhaps an ELC that uses molybdate. Shell Ultra comes to mind, an OAT with molybdate.
