To EV or not to EV

I guess. Not a problem I have. I charge at home while I sleep.

Yeah. It's usually cheaper than the charging station prices, which are supposed to be a convenience. But they don't get the power cheaper than home power users.

There might be some cases where it makes sense. Like charging at the workplace, especially if it's a longer commute with a somewhat short range car. Or where there's subsidized charging, like some that offer Level 2 charging for one or two free hours. And Tesla Superchargers if it's free for one reason or another.

Motorbiscuit is, IMO, low quality automotive "journalism" and I put that in quotes because a lot of the articles and stuff they post read like they are AI-generated or something LOL.

That said, I do believe the fact that these turbo Tundras are not as reliable as the old ones. Toyota should have made the Tundra a plug-in hybrid drivetrain and made that the only option. They get hybrids right and that's really it IMO.

I agree with the AI generated journalism statement. It’s obvious when you go to a number of sites that are the same article word for word but have different authors. The author’s bio usually has nothing to do with automotive stuff.

I’ll let you know on the Tundra as a good friend just bought one a few weeks ago. So far he loves it and no problems. ✊🏻 🪵

Not sure what punching a tree stump has to do with Tundras but please don't go punching a tree stump, it might hurt :D

I just can’t understand the big deal with EVs. How can they be good for the environment with solar farms destroying the environment?

It's all about driving experience at least for me. I've yet to meet one of these environmental nuts that anti EV people say drive them. Same with Prius or any other hybrid driver. They'll usually tell you how much they save in gas though or how nice and quiet it drives.

Everything “destroys “ the environment.

Including every building with asphalt roofs and plastic/aluminum siding .
Every AC system destroys the environment.

What destroys it least?

Are you sure about that? On many hybrid cars, if the hybrid components fail, the car won't move.
Yeah most hybrids today integrate the batteries electric motors and gas together. There's none that I'm aware of that can operate if the gas or battery power fails.

Anti EV people default to comparing Ev's to penally boxes and almost universally dismiss the driving experience.

Most of the anti's love hot small blocks and old school big blocks and dont really realize (coz 0 experience) thats what driving a fairly quick ev is like.

I'm so stupidly pro EV at this point and still love small blocks. I've owned a couple in my time and would still buy another. I think what gets me in the car community is how universally hated EVs are in that group. It's like if you love horsepower and noise that EV is the enemy. I saw a late model Aston Martin Vanquish two days ago in town. I love that V12. I guess I'm supposed to develop a hate for that thing since I drive the enemy of ICE now. I was even in the Tesla and gave him a thumbs up.

The polarity between the two is a mystery to me.

There's stuff to like and not with both.

I like it all.
