My T-touch is in need of service and I was wondering if any of you could recommend a place to have it done. I see that the factory recommended service facilities have some very spotty reviews.
Thanks

You're right about "factory service" which is often farmed out to a company not affiliated in any other way with the watch maker. I'm looking for a good repair service for a Heuer myself.

Is that a mechanical movement? I love watches and had two nice ones with mechanical movements. After paying for service a couple of times I sold them and went all Quartz. I now know a jeweler who has a good watchmaker, but he is in Rockwall, Tx.

my wife works at a very nice, family owned jewelry store that sells Tissot and has a master watchmaker on site...but she told me that the T Touch's are so complicated that even their watchmaker doesn't work on them. You will likely need to send it to a factory service center and expect a few months turnaround time.

The watchmaker is off today but she'll ask him tomorrow if he can recommend a specific service center and some are better than others.

I send my Seiko and Invitica watches to the factory service center. They have the thousands of parts needed, always replace gaskets and can pressure test.

My Invitica goes to FL where they repack them by the large box to go over to Switzerland to be fixed. The turn around is 90 days.

I have an old Tissot mechanical and was told by several local stores it needs to go to the factory to be repaired. I found all of the details on-line, but haven't sent it off yet.

About how much are we talking to have a Seiko serviced? I need a new battery, new side dial and probably some maintenance. Received the watch in 1994. So it needs some work I'm guessing.

I've never serviced a quartz watch and rarely wear one anymore (though I'll probably have my Shinola serviced rather than trash it like I would any other quartz should it develop a problem worse than a dead battery). For a mechanical watch, these guys get pretty good reviews:

I would only be guessing. They give you an estimate before doing any work. The place is COSERV in NJ. They are the warranty place for Seiko. But the cost is very reasonable. I have probably sent them watches 5 times so far. Always good turn around, reasonable cost and no problems with the watch after.

What difference does it make if it is working or not? Nobody wears those type of watches to tell time! Next time, ask them to remove the hands from the dial.

Of course I am kidding :-)

I would expect for the T-Touch that it is going to have to be done by Tissot. Anything mechanical, within reason, can go to any competent watchsmith. Obviously certain watchsmiths have specialties. I have had a few of my Omega's done by an independent in Seattle and from the factory. Both experiences were great. Same goes for my Hamilton's and Rolex. I just think that the T-Touch is a tad unique and would have to go back to the factory. The turnaround time is always different for each watchsmith and factory service. My last Rolex took 5 months and the Omegas took on average 4 months. I have had some watches sit at a watchsmith for up to a year. So be prepared to wait. I'm not saying it's right, but it definitely can be the case.

per my wife at the jewelry store...it looks like the New Jersey service center is the only option..not sure if this is the only one they use or the only one available..

Thank you for checking, I appreciate the effort. Looks like I'll have to ship her off and take my chances.
