Hey everybody..I am looking to get new tires for my 07 Camry LE V6 and was looking at either the Kumho Ecsta LX platinums or the General Altimax HP's..i need a good all season tire that handles well and is good in all weather..Does anyone have these tires that could comment?? or is anyone riding on a brand that they could suggest to me..either way would be much appreciated thanks

Check out your Toyota Dealer, they were running a special for Michelin tire, buy 3 get 1 free.

Those are some cheap (price wise) tires you are looking at. Try using

Tire Rack

They also have ratings and customer reviews which are helpful.

I bought a set of Kelly's on Walmart.com very well priced and I've been very impressed by their performance in all situations. My sister in law has kumhos got them the same day I got mine they're are nice but overall I prefer the Kelly's . They have incredible wetter weather traction.

There is no such thing other than snow tires. Your sacrifice for one season is the performance of the other 3. The best in snow on my Camry was the Goodyear Assurance ComforTred Touring but the handling was not that great. Now I use Yokohama Avid Envigors, average in snow. But they do a good job on the roads here, so snow really isnt an issue. Whatever you decide, do your research at Tire Rack, buy at Discount Tire Direct free shipping so it cheaper

If your only requirements is a tire that handles average and does average in snow then there are five dozen tires that can do that. What are your real criteria? Does noise matter? What about price?

The LX Platinums will be quiet and handle quite well but I doubt you'll get good snow performance.

Tha Altimax will handle well, do decent in snow but they will be louder.

I am looking to spend about 150 a tire and yes road noise is important to me considering I have Nexen 3000's on there and they are [censored]..I have General Grabbers on my 07 Mitsu Endeavor and they are great so I was leaning towards the Generals..I liked the reviews for the Michelin Primacy MXV4's but they are over 200 a tire by me installed..

I drive the car maybe 6000 miles a year and the wintertime in the Northeast can be brutal, except for this one...Road noise and handling are the 2 most important attributes for me

I've done research on Tire Rack and Discount Tire Direct and both of those tires are rated very high so i was looking to see if anyone was riding on either one of those tires but im looking at all suggestions as to what tire I should go with..again thanks for the input everyone

I have the Altimax HP on my Mini Cooper. Not a comparable car, but can give my impressions. Road noise is lower than the Pirelli and GoodYears on it previously. Handling is fine, more than adequate given the car you mentioned. Rain performance is very good. Light snow is fine, and even frozen conditions were fine. I do not use the car in deep snow so can't comment. My mini is tough on tires, but the wear is better than the other two mentioned. FYI, Pirellis lasted 14 k miles, same for the GY. Car in perfect alignment, always rotated.

Keep in mind that the General Altimax HP tires cannot be cross-rotated without also dismounting them from the wheels because they have a directional tread pattern. The Kumho tire does not share that attribute, so could be rotated to maximize life.

I would second the suggestion of the Michelin Primacy MXV4. It's about as good of a tire as you'll find in this size.

Primacy looks good. IMO H series last longer than V and its much cheaper in this brand. Used V and H, no diff at 80mph we drive here.

Directional tires rock. Best tires I've ever owned (so far 25k)

These have gotten good reviews for an all-season and are way less than $150 per tire. Although perhaps a tad noisy for your tastes, but it depends on the vehicle, what is considered noisy in a Honda may be fine in Toyota.

My wife has the 07 4 banger. I run the H rated Michelin Primacy; it's been a good tire. The same tire is on my Volvo S60.

Your car came with V rated tires. Most tire experts believe it's ok to drop down one speed rating (V to H in this case). I don't believe that either of the tires that the General tire that mention comes in an H or V rating. Putting that tire on your car could really affect the handling. I believe that the Kumho is a 95V.

Got a Sam's Club nearby? They carry Goodrich and FatGuy tires,, prices and warranty are very good. Since the FatGuy owns BF Goodrich now a lot of the new Goodrich stuff is Michelin with a tread design changed enough they can convince you the same tire with Michelin on the side should cost more.
Go take a look at their Goodrich line and compare
it to the FatGuy stuff, you will see the "family relationship". I have two Camrys with the latest Goodrich 205-65-15s,- you can tell a good quality tire because it doesn't need a half ton of balance weights and STAYS balanced even when your wife never sees a pothole she couldn't hit.

My Dad had Yokohama Avids on his Accord V6 in Upstate NY. His daily commute takes him up into areas that just gets nailed by lake effect snow all the time and he never had a problem getting to and from work with those all-seasons on. Of course, he also has 30+ years experience making that drive with FWD sedans.

I got Michelin Harmonys on my Civic a few weeks ago, I'm real happy with them so far. MPG has seen a nice boost and wet weather is good. No winter weather so far though.

Just keep in mind that "all season" really means, "good in summer, spring and fall, and only suck a little in winter".

Real dedicated winter tires perform up to twice as well as all-seasons in winter conditions. So, if you really need winter performance, bite the bullet and get winter tires.

If you stay home on those snowy, icy days, then all-seasons are a good choice, and the tire rack has some great comparison tests to help you select a model and brand.

I'd say you are underestimating winter tires if anything by saying twice as well.

I know my conti EWC were lightyears ahead of kumho kh16's
esp in that mushy wet snow that gets giant ruts in it.. and you have to turn or stop.

also lateral traction while slipping is amazingly different

The average top tier snow tire can maintain traction well while slipping vs an all-season that can have as little as 10% of its grip while slipping.

This means you dont go flying sideways once your tires slip on a hill.

and if you are asking me what I'm quoting it was a chart but I cant find the link now.

My two cents, my BFG Advantage T/A's are not in the same league as the Primacys. They are good tires, reasonably quiet and wearing well with surprisingly good handling. But their cold/snow/wet performance isn't there. Below say 20 degrees they get hard and lose traction on even dry pavement. I'd recommend them if the OP didn't want great snow performance and cared more about price.

I'm sure snow tires are great. I've never talked to someone who thought otherwise. Our Highlander Michelin LTX2's are easily twice as good as the OEM tires before them. Some of that is treadwear/depth but it's night and day. I'm sure snow tires could easily offer double the traction on snow and ice, especially when compared to a luxury/performance tire with a small amount of void area.

To the OP, best of luck.

If you can afford it, stick with Michelins. Your car is fairly new with a lot of life / miles left on it. You will enjoy driving it more on quality, smooth-riding tires (Michelin).
