For what it's worth, I'm running Cooper tires on my 2010 Fusion, and they're excellent.

Discount tire direct has a great sale starting tomorrow, and they stock cooper.

Yokohama Avid Ascend or Dunlop Signature II are good US-made choices.

One of the BITOG favorites, the General RT43, is made by Conti, so if you don't like that, the other BITOG favorite is the Cooper CS5 Ultra.

The General RT43 is top rated by Consumer Reports in snow traction and in ice braking. The Cooper as much as I like them gets a poor rating in ice braking.

I'd avoid the T speed rating since it has a B temp rating. An H rating has an A temp rating.

I have gotten my last 5 sets of tires from Tirerack or Discount Tire and they have all been fairly new (within 6 months).

I've had numerous varieties of A temperature rated tires, I've never seen that. Give us a link to the post you see.

The Michelins I've had did well, but they weren't rated Temperature B nor were they touted as 90K tires.
I did get 92K out of a set of MXLs, but that was in a different era of Michelin quality.

This one here unless I read it wrong

How do you read that to say that temperature rated A tires crack? It sounds more like he was disparaging B rated tires.

Michelin had a recall of certain tires in 2013. Some people like to extrapolate that recall onto the entire Michelin line or listen to Internet amplification. All tire companies have had recalls, some have had many more than Michelin.

So between true contacts by continental and defenders by Michelin which would you guys pick? Both are t rated. Can't get the true contact in a h rated tire but can get the defender in a h rated tire so idk what to do there. Should I go h rated or t rated?

Keep in mind that because it's snows a lot up here and gets pretty icy out and rains a lot as well I need something that's gonna do really well in all weather conditions and on all road types. If the cooper tires don't do well on icy roads then I'll avoid those. The online places say my tire type is a t rated tire but I can get h and t and v rated tires for it supposedly

Ok guys. I'm actually torn between the general tires, cooper tires, continental tires and Michelin tires now. Out of those 4 what is the absolute best? I would want a A temperature tire as well correct? Need to know by tonight so I can get free shipping on them. One person said that the cooper doesn't do well in snow and ice but the general does which I find odd cause it looks like the exact same tread and compound but I could be wrong.

Well after reading more threads on this forum I have actually decided to order from the link provided in this thread and I have ordered from DTD and decided on the Cooper CS5 Grand Touring T Rated Tires that are A Temperature Rated. 80,000 Mile Warranty and $75 mail in rebate. Idk what kinda of sales they will have on them tomorrow but I'm sure they probably will be around the same price so I'm ok with that plus I need them ASAP. I almost put my car into a wall today when the wind caught it in a turn and the worn out tires on it couldn't hold the road hardly at all. I will be super happy to get these. Just hope they are as awesome as everyone claims they are. We will see. I'm gonna take them on some good twisty country roads so I can test them out after the mold release wears off them. Can't wait. Thank you all so very much for helping with my tire purchase. I really appreciate it. You all are a awesome group of guys.

Ok so actually disregard that last post. I actually thought about things more after reading a lot more threads all night on this forum and others and actually decided to go with Michelin Defenders instead. I did order them from DTD and got a great deal on them as most places around me want 120 plus per tire. I got them for 101 and some change per tire and a 100 dollar mail in rebate on top of that so really only 304 total for those tires. Can't beat that at all. I also added the 4 certificates for 51 dollars so that if anything happens to them at all then I can just get a new tire for free or if they don't last what the treat wear warranty claims I can get a good discount towards another set. Any I am happy with my purchase and can't wait to get them and have them installed in my car. Totally just remembered to my mom has the same tires in a different size on her Saturn Aura and loves them so hopefully I have the same pleasure with them on my Fusion. Anyway hope you all have a great day. Thank you for all the suggestions. It was a hard choice and lots of going back and forth on tires but I'm positive I made the right choice. Thanks again

Be aware that no all-season tire will do anywhere near as well in those conditions as will a dedicated winter tire. I have winter tires for three of my vehicles and the difference is almost unbelievable. My neighbor bought his daughter a Toyota RAV4 AWD for her to drive in the snow, but it has all-season tires. My rear drive BMW with winter tires operates far better than her vehicle in the snow. I tried to explain to him that her previous car with a set of good winter tires would have been a better solution, but he would not listen.

I will look into winter tires for this car next winter because right now I can't afford a set of steel times and winter tires for it. I have driven on blizzacks by Bridgestone before in the winter on a Subaru Forester and for some reason they where sliding all over the road and I couldn't get the car to stop sliding. Put all season tires on it in the same weather and had better traction. Idk why. Maybe cause of the blizzacks being brand new and the mold release coating not being worn off yet could have made them slicker like that but idk. Good riding tire though. I liked them. Just wish they had more grip back when they first came out.

Those do look good. I think what steered me away from them is from reading about cooper tires being harder to balance and would go out of balance a lot. Plus the weak sidewall and the squishy feel. I like a harder sidewall and a harder tire in geeeral cause I like to feel more feedback from the road. Plus I like to drive twisty back roads a lot and a softer sidewall tire would be a problem for me there. Read a lot of people saying with the coopers and general tires that when going into a turn you can feel the sidewall shift and I don't like that at all. I know they are good tires but I've owned more Michelin tire than any other brand and have had the best luck with them on my cars so that's what I'm gonna stay with. Plus it's all my family runs on their cars and vans as well.
