Tire sales…current vs potential Black Friday / future sales?

I’m coming up on needing tires for our van. They aren’t shot, but about 5-6/32”. We’ve been known to run them to the wear indicators or past as I trust myself and my wife to know how to handle it and take it slow in rain. She works from home and we live in MD so the whole state shuts down at the threat of snow. I don’t need any lessons, I know it’s not everyone’s preferred way, but I’m actually considering replacing them sooner this time.

Continental and Bridgestone have some deals through tire rack and credit cards that would make a set of 235/60/18s about —$660-680. Costco sells the Bridgestone (no deal right now) for approx. $860 installed as a comparison. We all know they have deals every other month, so those will likely be $780ish when caught on sale.

I’ve never really shopped tire sales as I’d been a dealer mechanic and had access to tires at like $5 over cost forever, but my hook up s are running dry now after being out of the business over 10 years.

Would Black Friday deals be better?

Only really considering these new (hesitantly due to them being new) Bridgestone turanza ever drive, or continental cross contact lx25 in the XL load rating.

Noone can predict the economy this year and if they could they'd be out striking it rich. I don't think anyone really loses money on bf sales so consider that your baseline and buy if you feel you're matching it. I'd watch Walmart and simpletire.com as they have "quiet sales" of overstocks. They have a lot of third tier brands but some good ones too if you're patient.

And you can always buy now, install later, if you have room to store them.

Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals are usually better for most people that don't have an employee discount.

If you think the Everdrive is too new, consider the Weatherpeak.

I bought tires this month. I pulled the trigger because Sams Club was running a promotion for Free Installation, normally $20/tire. I dont buy alot of tires, but first time I have seen free install.

Just keep an eye out for a deal that feels good. No way to predict anything.

Walmart has been running substantial sales on Goodyear in December for the last couple of years. No guarantee they will do it again this year, of course.

Visit the TireRack and watch for their deals til BLACK FRIDAY.
I just got as good a deal as I could currently on, 4 Pirelli SCORPION A/S Plus3(225-60-18) from the TireRack.
These were the tires that I wanted and the deal was too good to pass up. I had intentions of waiting for BLACK FRIDAY but Pirelli had a $100 rebate(VISA GC) from Aug 17-31 and the TR was offering $80-$160 checkout on certain sizes.
My size was for $20.50/tire…I don’t recall them limiting how many tires you could order.
Other sizes were $40/tire…SAME ^^^
And other sizes were for $80/must buy 4 tires
The deals are kind’a all over the place.

Keep any eye out for deals now and Good luck !

Thanks. I read about you or someone posted about this deal. Every customers car I’ve worked on or driven with pirelli’s seemed loud. Could’ve been a maintenance thing, or a historical problem that’s been resolved, but that put a bad taste in my mouth for pirelli.

I bought tires some tires on Black Friday from Discount Tires (Defenders ?? pre-Covid)

If you get a winter, that weekend is a good time to buy as the store was relatively quiet compared to normal. same right before Christmas (assuming no snow).

(my) Costco Tires are always a madhouse. and around the first snow every place is a madhouse. lol

I just bought Continentals yesterday and got $200.00 rebate. Deal ends 8/31.
I was reading through their rebate terms and it says you have to provide proof of installation too…that stinks because I was leaning towards the continentals.

Typically yes, Black Friday has provided opportunities to save $100 or so. That’s when I’ll probably replace due to sitting at 6/32” myself. I missed the Continental rebate because I don’t need them now, but I doubt they’ll make another winter.

Continental rebate goes to the 31 or sept 1 one or the other. You have to pay to have them installed and have an invoice as part Of their stipulations for rebate though. If I bought now I’d be installing later, potentially installing them myself with no possibility to show an invoice

Gotcha and I understand!
This hasn’t been my experience however, I’ve only purchased Pirelli passenger car tires; several sets of…
Cinturato P4, Cinturato P7 AS Plus/Plus2 and now the Scorpion AS Plus3 and all have been Pirelli’s quiet(er) tires.

I chose the Scorpions this time as the scored smoothest/quietest in the TR’s comparison test of 8 premium tires for our SUV. I also just had my alignment performed.

The Continental CrossContact LX25 would have been my 2nd choice as I’ve driven a SantaFe with them and liked them too. They were worn ~ 1/2 way and didn’t sound loud the way I have read that the can get. I blame [SOME] loud tires on poor alignment. Once the alignment is put back into spec, the noise never goes away til you get new tires.

I just went to discount tire and they have a number of Labor day deals. Might be worth the squeeze.

35/12.5/20 ridge grapplers $500 ea. Won't be long before a new set of tires is more than the value of my truck.

General has a $100 rebate starting today. I’m waiting until next month to see if Hankook has a rebate like they did last October. I need tires for the Mazda.

Tire sales and related promotions tend to peak in the month of October and then wind down into the month of November. By the time Black Friday rolls around I would not expect some crazy deal to be available like there would have been a month prior based on recent history and my first hand experience selling dozens of sets of tires to my beloved customers 🥰
