I am MORE THAN a little

at Michelin for NOT producing these tires in ANY size I could possibly use on my car, just as they did not for their Pilot Super Sports either.

It would be a NO BRAINER to get these if they are made in your needed size!

I do have the PS AS/3s on my stock 'winter' wheels (ordered the car with these from the factory, instead of the very 'dated' B-Stone 050A summer ONLY donuts), and they ARE impressive in the dry for an all season tire!

I have never experienced the level of traction I have with my 4S's. This car breaks traction at the top of second gear just as you hit the shift point for third. This is at 80 mph.

It has done this with several other types of tires, including PSS's. Without any size increase I now am nailed to the road.

Truly impressive...

In this size, the three Michelin Pilot Sport options I can see are the Pilot Sport A/S 3+, the Pilot Super Sport, and the Pilot Sport 4S. There's no advantage to the A/S 3+ in this application, and the 4S replaces the Super Sport, so I'm going to assume we're talking about the 4S here.

Which is convenient, because... that's the tire you should pick.

If you lined the Pilot Sport 4S up against some cheaper options and drove them back-to-back, you'd know why it was more expensive. And if you put 20k miles' worth of wear on each one and THEN ran them back-to-back, you'd know EXACTLY where your money went. No matter how you look at it -- wet performance, dry performance, noise, ride, whatever -- the 4S works better near the wear bars than most tires do when brand new. Nothing else combines that level of performance with good NVH, and long usable life, and moderate rolling resistance, and excellent construction, and and and...

In terms of NVH, the 4S should be much better than those Pirellis. There are quieter tires out there, though. But you'd have to be willing to accept BIG performance trade-offs. They're the kinds of tires that, if you were really interested in them, you probably wouldn't be driving a Mustang in the first place. Your call on that.

As an overall package though, there just isn't anything that even competes with the Pilot Sport 4S right now -- even in terms of bang-for-the-buck. It's probably the best summer tire ever made.

Almost any summer tire will be quieter than the all-seasons he's considering.

The grand touring summer tires would be the quietest, if he could get them in his size (ContiPremiumContact, Primacy 3 or Primacy HP, Bridgestone T001, Goodyear EfficientGrip, Falken ZE914, etc)

Tire Rack has the Yokohama C.Drive in this size. Perhaps that might be the best one to get for the OP's intended usage.

Just a follow up on this. I ended up putting on Nokian ZLine tires and thus far I'm very happy with them. As for noise and road manners, they have been a huge improvement over the original OEM tires. I have an 800 mile trip coming up in a few days so we'll see how they compare fuel wise to previous trips.

It's great to see more people giving Nokian all-season, and summer tires a try. I am very happy with the Nokian Entre 2.0's on my car. I chose them because Nokian claims "... "delivering confidence in cornering that feels similar to an ultra-high performance tire. ..."

I have pushed my car around corners to the point I was getting nervous, and not a chirp from the Nokian's. Amazing premium all-season tires, can only imagine what the ZLine's would be like.

Let us know ow they hold up please. Judging by your ride I'm guessing you are a "Spirited" driver

I have Nokian Entyre 2.0's on a GTI and have been very pleased so far. But I don't think I'll get to 20k on them.
