Thanks I spent hours on that darn car! I use a porter cable with lake country pads and menzerna polish then seal it up with what ever sealant is the flavor of the day. I really got myself into something this time. We just bought an 07 Yukon in guess what color? BLACK! AHHHHH god help me!

I use STP Son of a Gun Foam Cleaner/Shine.

Water based silicones(whitish) are fine for rubber. Clear oil based silicones aren't so good. I used STP clear silicone tire dressing and got sidewall cracking in 2 years. maybe Megs formulates their clear dressings differently than some other companies, I don't know. What I do know is that for expensive low profile tires I won't risk it. That's why I use Zaino Z16 or Mothers FX.

what do y'all think about meguiars hyper dressing? it is part of their detailer line. it is water based but you can cut the mix as low as 4:1,water:dressing,with 1:1 being the most bling/shine and 4:1 being matte looking. i just ordered a gallon so i hope it is some good stuff. it gets good reviews on the net so it has to be true LOL!

^ I've always wanted to try it. A gallon would last a long time. I've read good things about it as well. If I could buy it locally, I would.

I'm about to tackle my wifes silver 08 Altima again. I normally do it once/twice a year. I use the PC 7424 with some Megs Ultimate Compound or Swirl X. I keep it simple and use the OTC stuff. After my alcohol wipe down I seal it, then carnuba.

I always clean my tires with a spray of Bleche-wite then a hard stream. After I've been using No-touch from Permatex for $2.50 for like a 19-21oz can of foam spray at a dollar store.

It is not very shiny, fairly matte and you can still tell its there after a month and a few rains.

My favorite for that melted look, is Armor All fierce. I believe it is such a good rubber preservative that I use it on other important items (intake tract, hoses and what not), but not on the dash for obvious reasons. It is like $5-6 a can but besides looking excellent I really believe it is good to rubber.
