Tire choices for camry

I was looking to buy two tires on tiretrack. I drive about 14k a year, all slow going under 40ish. I take it pretty slow.

1. General Altimax HP and the RT43
2. Hankook Optimo H427 or the H727

Just looking for some thoughts and opinions. I like the cheaper price but don't mind paying a bit extra for quality.

I would get the General Altimax.

I have Altimax's on my 240sx...This is my 2nd set. Excellent traction wet, dry, or snow. Have a hard time keeping them in balance, though this 2nd set has been a little better than the first set.

What year is the Camry? If it's 2007-11, you will run into the V-speed rating spec that's been mentioned in other threads. Still trying to figure out that one.

For your driving style I recommend Hankook H727, though I've read great things about the Altimax RT 43. The Altimax HP seems too performance-oriented, relatively, for what you need.

So I probably can't go wrong with either eh? Both are good for my old lady driving. Might just go with whatever is Altimax was 10 bucks cheaper I think.

Had the General Altimax once and they got noisy pretty fast.

I would recommend the Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum's. I have them on 2 cars currently and they are quiet and have great wet/dry traction. Also have standard Road Hazard and 60K mile warranty

I'm on the 3rd set of tires on my 07 Camry Hybrid at 150 kmi. Currently (when the blizzaks are off) using the Continental pure contact ECO 215/60-16 V speed. They are by far the best tire I've ever run on a daily driver, ever! Perfect at everything, but can't say for snow, since I refuse to drive in the winter w/o winter tires.

I becoming a fan of Yoko's ! I did the General Altimax thing for several years, its well documented in this thread https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1701773&page=1

I dont suggest the Altimaxes after my experience.

I wouldn't count it out just because it is called Altimax. The RT43 is a totally new tire. Check out the tire tests on tirerack. It did very well.

Again, what year Camry? 4 or 6 cyl?

The H727 are always a safe bet and stay in balance better than lots of other brands.
