tiny rack and pinion leak

Hi folks, i have a 2002 tundra v8 with 175k miles. a few months ago, i noticed that the driver side boot had a slight tear on it. it was also slightly wet. this rack takes dexron atf as power steering fluid and in my case the atf color is cherry red. as stated the boot was slightly wet with some type of fluid, that was very slightly pinkish in color so i assume it is atf from the rack seal leaking. everywhere else around that driver boot was completely dry. i have never had any spots in the driveway and i have never had even the slightest drop of power steering fluid level.

so i would guess the seal is starting to leak, but very very slowly. maybe a drop a week. there is no puddle of fluid in the boot, i know that from the tear. so at this point i am not sure what to do. the thing could go on leaking a drop a week for a long time or i could attempt lucas stop leak or a similar product to stop it. anyone have any experience with stop leak products for extremely small power steering leaks? any other suggestions for fixing this issue?

At that rate, I would leave it alone. If not, at least don't use lucas to fix it...

stay clear from all lucas products. It's just easier.

If you really want to try and use an additive to fix it, just ATP's AT-205 Re-Seal.
It really does work.

I thought the Lucas product was OK.
If Eric says the ATP stuff is good, I'd try it.
First, I'd flush the system with fresh fluid or turkey baster it out a few times, then add the additive.
Give it time to work - it is not like putting in a new seal the next day!

BTW... kinda ghetto, but a rag judiciously attached will keep drips off of the ground.

I have seen people use Lucas PSF additive successfully slow down a PS rack leak.

Run some additive in it, and then set aside money for a rebuilt PS rack.
