I picked up our Traverse from the dealership yesterday evening around 8:30 after a full day of them doing a timing chain cover gasket replacement (slight leak).

I immediately took it out on the HWY as I had an errand to run.

When I got home I put a piece of clean cardboard under the car in the area of the drain plug and timing chain cover area.

Here is what I saw this morning after it had sat for 10 hours.

I am hoping this is due to the sloppy cleanup of the mechanic ie not thoroughly wiping down or power washing the affected areas after the repair.

Fixed but messy or now a worse leak?

I am bringing it back to the dealership later this afternoon to get it on the hoist. But I bet they will need to powerwash it and then send me away and then I come back...what a pain.

It's probably sloppy work. I took my '07 Chrysler van to a Dodge dealer to have a power steering problem fixed and immediately drove it 4 hours to the in-law's house. There was ATF all over their driveway and upon inspection, ATF was all over the top of the transmission case, pooled in all of the casting nooks and crannies.

I took it back to the dealership and said it look like the guy filled the PS system (with ATF) with a hose from 10 feet away. They insisted that they don't bulk fill ATF. Either way, it was all over the place. They had to power wash the whole engine bay to get it all out.

(No, there wasn't a leak.)

It appears that way.

I took it back and it was put on the hoist. Thy say that the mess was due to a refill of ps fluid. The inpsected as best they could the timing chain cover and all was dry. I got the underside power washed and nothing on the driveway now several days and many miles later.

Given that the timing chain cover was off to replace the gasket is there any reason to think that the next UOA will show any differently?
