Time or miles please advise

Here is the deal. I change oil in my Moms Gt Mustang. For a while she drove it to death and put quite a few mile on it. Of late, its become a fun car and only sees summer duty since its a vert.

We have been using Motercraft oil and filters since it was new and change it about every 4 or 5K miles. Its a 06 by the way. Now, the miles have slowed way down for what ever reason and Im wondering with this kind of oil when should I be changing it out?

How long should I let it go time wise? She does not want to spend the extra for synthetic and honestly I dont blame her.

She is 74 by the way and loves this car. To quote her "when I step on it it goes". lol

I wouldn't go over a year regardless of miles. Some will say 6 monts on Dino, but I only change my bike once a year and it's whistle clean inside.... no deposits or sludge issues.

Thats what I was thinking. This car now only sees about 5 K per year so I was not sure.

Once a year or every 3000K miles on reg dino oil. Syn you can go 7K miles.

We have gone 5K before on motercraft oil so I hope we have not hurt it. I never got a analysis done so I really dont know for sure. The car runs great and shows no signs of wear.

Im going to make sure I get it changed at least before the one year mark from now on. She does not drive it a lot and it gets short tripped a lot these days.

Surely this would be a reasonable schedule to change oil out. I will tell you this. Its a fun car to drive and I love the thing. Makes me feel 16 again. I gotta get one of these things as they are just too much fun even for a old man.
