Time for trany flush?

At 75k, it's probably filthy and the fluid well past shot. A mere flush/refill will probably expose deposit/contamination related problems.

Three letters: ARX.

ARX it and then refill with Dex VI. With that mileage on the factory fill, I'd be looking at a pan drop/filter change as well.

No need to put a drain plug in if you can use the cooler lines, which makes for a better flush anyway.

I would also not be scared to flush it. My wifes 97 cavalier did not see a trans flush until it was at 120k. The car is still kicking today with 201k on the clock.

Find a good trans shop in your area. I found one that will do a pan drop (change the filter) and then do a flush for about $115. This will make sure all of the fluid is exchanged for clean fluid as well as getting you a nice clean AT filter.

A tip that was passed on to me a long time ago about dropping transmission pans. Put a trash can lid with a small hole in it on top of your drain pan and let the sump pan fall onto it. It makes a lot larger target and makes less of a mess.

I've always taken my tans work to my local independent trans shop. He has 35+ years of experience. He is the guy that the other shops call when they are stumped.

When he drops the pan, he can "read" the piles of stuff in the pan kinda like "reading tea leaves".

Fast lube shops like to flush without dropping the pan. They don't clean the magnet. They don't see sediment levels. No matter how many quarts they run through not much fluid gets exchanged. Don't waste your money on a shop that doesn't drop the pan. Having the right equipment does not mean they will do good work with it.

i want to do it myself because i want to learn.
Car calls for dex 111 so what should i get, i saw pennzoil ATF dex 111 compatible at wallmart for almost 4 dollars a quart.

I dont know wahts the best way to get the fluid out.

How much will go out with just dropping the pan?

and how much is there total in there?

should i do multiple pan drops?
