I hear many issues of trailer tires going bad even new ones. Our Ainsley's Angels trailer is over 6 years old and time for tires, not due to wear but age. What are some good brands to look for? Current ones are Goodride Radials that came on the trailer. Should I stick with them? The place we got the trailer is over an hour and a half away. ST205x75/15 is the size and need 4.

What load range? Might be worth it to go up a range. IIRC on my trailer the original tires were just "good enough" so I went up a range for not much more. [Now that I think about it, they're going on 6 years too.] Forget what I got but it seems what is good changes every few years.

Getting a new spare too?

I have run Geenball Transmasters-well over 20,000 miles combined. Never had a single issue...not a one. I get them from Walmart-have them mounted elsewhere-or Walmart will mount them if you bring the wheels in. I see ZERO NEED to buy any thing more expensive.
Consequently-I couldn't care of the country of origin.

Current are load range C. The trailer is about 6k and will not be much more than that for what we carry which are running chairs. Yes, a new spare as well. Not worth the risk to me.

X2 on going to higher load range. Say if current are load range C (6 ply rating), then go up to D (8 ply rating). Also run trailer tires at or near max inflation pressure. Heat is what destroys trailer tires, and that is much less when run at high pressure.

I'd go with Goodyear or Carlstar (used to be Carlisle) made in USA tires myself. Going up a load range is a good idea if your rims are good for the increased pressure.

Edit: I've read in the past the Carlisle tires being made in USA but am really not sure. I know they have a decent reputation on the camper forums among the folks that don't want to pay for the Goodyears...

The most important thing when it comes to trailer tires is keeping them inflated and keeping up on the bearings.

Trailer tires fail more from being run underinflated than their country of origin.

Yes, I keep them inflated. Way to easy to do with the Milwaukeej M18 cordless inflator. Works great and glad I got it on sale. $199.

I have Carlisle Radial HDs on a 7k gwvr trailer and after a few years with lots of miles the tread still looks new. I have no reason or urge to buy anything else.

If you're willing to go 16" and there's enough clearance for something like a 245/75 in LT, that's a much safer bet than 15" ST anything.

I'd never heard of Ainsley's Angels - had to look it up. It looks like a wonderful organization. Good for you for helping out!

Do you recommend maximum pressure as stated on the tire's sidewall, or maximum pressure as stated by the trailer manufacturer?
