Can anyone confirm if it is possible to utilize in alternative display connector on a display that utilizes Thunderbolt? Looking at high-end displays it appears that the Apple thunderbolt display is by far the best deal in that range. The equivalent Samsung, s27b970D, which is a beautiful monitor is $200 More it seems.
But there seems to be a lot of conflicting information as to whether thunderbolt, which apparently utilizes the same connector as mini display port, just with different functionality, can be used with an adapter to only serve as a display port or VGA interface.
For the application I'm looking at I would not be interested in using the WebCam speakers or anything else like that, all I would need is for it to serve as a display. But similar reports seem to conflict indicating that thunderbolt is a different bus and therefore isn't compatible. Any ideas? I may not have been searching well enough, but it seems like there is a lot of conflict.
