I have three cars one of which takes 5w30. 2005 subaru LGT.

My other two cards are Fords. 2014 mustang 5.0 and a 2009 focus 2.0 duratec. Both these cars have been on 5w20. The mustang for 14,000 miles and the focus for 64,000. Drivertrain warranty is expired or invalid on both. It is easier to find Pennzoil 5w30 in stock locally and would be nice if I could use the same oil in all three vehicles.

Has anyone run either the duratec 2.0 or the coyote 5.0 engines on 5w30 and if so were there issues?

Many would argue you should already be running 5w30 in those two engines.

Id have no issue putting all on 5w-30 or a 0w-30.

If anything, just look for a 5w-30 on the lighter viscosity end.

Does the 5.0 recommend heavier/ 5w-30 oil for towing (in truck form) or track use?

Penn Plat is a thinner 5w-30 and is a great oil, just use that.
I've been running Penn Plat 5w-30 in both Kias since their first oil change, where manuals recommend 5w-20.

I've been putting 10w30 or 5w30 in my dad's 2011 F150 5.0. It has 216K on it now. Also used 5w30 in my 2012 Mustang GT without issue prior to selling with around 60K miles.

Thanks guys. Just from a logistical standpoint it makes things easier to use the same in all 3. Next time I put a new fill in, will switch over.

I believe the Mustang 5.0 recommend 5w-50 for track use so a 5w-30 would be just fine.

I would be one of them .... 5W-30 will run fine in all of them.

I'm another - especially after running 5w-30 in the '13 F150 Coyote and getting very good results.

My 5w-20 Fords have always achieved excellent results and returned good UOAs on 5w-30. Unify all your oil to that and sleep well at night!
