Don't forget the cats. That is a good point but the total number does matter. We are still talking about as many as 1 billion birds killed in North America alone by human activity.

Agreed, I'm just pointing out that the oft cited "but cats!" claim to justify the relative lower overall death rate via wind turbines misses the mark, because cats aren't killing eagles, hawks, osprey, vultures, owls...etc. And it's large birds (mostly raptors) that make up the bulk of wind turbine mortality concerns. That is a good point but the total number does matter. I didn't bring bird deaths caused by animals into this because the bird deaths by turbine are due to human activities. Maybe focusing on habitat loss in general rather than blaming the avian genocide on wind turbines would be a better approach.Agreed, I'm just pointing out that the oft cited "but cats!" claim to justify the relative lower overall death rate via wind turbines misses the mark, because cats aren't killing eagles, hawks, osprey, vultures, owls...etc. And it's large birds (mostly raptors) that make up the bulk of wind turbine mortality concerns.
