Turkey breast. 🦃. Always thankful for my work giving everyone a turkey. Turkey at Thanksgiving and hams and a bonus check at Christmas. I’d hate to see how much they spend on 1000+ turkeys for all their employees. Not the same ones as last year but either way I’m appreciative. The ones last year were delicious so hopefully these will be too. It saves a lot of money not having to buy a turkey. We are having 4 Thanksgiving celebrations this year so I don’t think I’ll go hungry either lol. Happy Thanksgiving week to everyone. Hope everyone has a short week. I do lol. My week ends Wednesday.

That grass is a type of horsetail. I have two native down by the pond bank. One of the oldest plants on earth. Those darkled areas are the actual leaves.

Equisetum (horsetail, snake grass, puzzlegrass) is the only living genus in Equisetaceae, a family of vascular plants that reproduce by spores rather than seeds.

Equisetum is a "living fossil", the only living genus of the entire subclass Equisetidae, which for over 100 million years was much more diverse and dominated the understorey of late Paleozoic forests. Some equisetids were large trees reaching to 30 m (98 ft) tall. The genus Calamites of the family Calamitaceae, for example, is abundant in coal deposits from the Carboniferous period. The pattern of spacing of nodes in horsetails, wherein those toward the apex of the shoot are increasingly close together, is said to have inspired John Napier to invent logarithms. Modern horsetails first appeared during the Jurassic period.

A superficially similar but entirely unrelated flowering plant genus, mare's tail (Hippuris), is occasionally referred to as "horsetail", and adding to confusion, the name "mare's tail" is sometimes applied to Equisetum.

Despite centuries of use in traditional medicine, there is no evidence that Equisetum has any medicinal properties.

Thanks for the info. Very interesting looking plant.

Mod/Adm please move if there is a proper place for this?

Could not find thread for Holidays. DELETE / BLOCK or IGNORE at your privilege. I know some do not want anything to do with Holidays.

Happy Thanksgiving week to all and your families. To anyone going thru issues that make a holiday the last thing you want or need to think about. Sorry for you and hope / pray your burden is eased at least some what. I suffer many issues 24x7 365 and without a wife of 45 years, grandkids and family who at times help me forget my issues thru just a small thing as the holidays, that is the first of many things I feel I should give thanks for.
Holidays - Thanksgiving - I have too much to be thankful for to ignore it. That does not mean I am a rich person but we are very ok.
I have found that as we all age that the Holidays can mean all sorts of different things , affect us all differently. Especially at different ages/point in our lives. So to BITOG folks whoever / where ever , wishing you a good week and hope you can say "I do have something to be thankful for." I know some years and holidays were hard for me to even care were here in past. Then grandkids started coming along ten/eleven years ago and changed it all for me again. Another thing for me to be Thankful for..... Peace n Happiness to all of you on here.

Split more 1 year seasoned Osage orange 2 hours ago. Then Trebor dragged empty wagon over. Say no more buddy. Pic don’t do fire justice. One quarter Osage orange and rest red oak. Throwing off insane heat.

I had some Bradford pear I cut down. It takes a good fire to get it going but the stuff burns like coal. Fast growing tree too.

This Osage orange wood I was told by brothers friend who cuts trees and makes firewood said to us don’t use it in wood burner with glass panes or they will crack apart. That’s saying something. Seasoned, this wood has highest BTU of any hardwood.
