I definitely won't worry now, as there was a sale on Fram Ultras at Part Source so I grabbed one tonight for her car and I'll be putting it on there tomorrow morning (might as well do it with a cold engine)
Since her BMW uses a cartridge filter and changing it is done from up top, I don't even need to be doing it at the same time as I'm doing an oil change. So instead of changing it every other oil change moving forward (and doing it on a hot engine) I will just change it by mileage from now on. Fram rates these as being able to go 32,000 km (and I'm sure that's a conservative rating) so I will keep it simple and do it every 30,000 km. Her car is at just over 170,000 km now so it's perfect timing, then the next change will be right at 200,000, then 230,000, and so on.
One interesting thing I did notice after looking at this Ultra (XG10075), the media is not red like on other versions (it's white) and I don't see any wire backing on it either.
