Now that it saw 100+ degrees summertime to about 25 the other night Im pretty sure its gotta some out. I was watching it on Amazon in the beginning of 2011, and found a 5 gal jug for under 120 shipped. Sniped! Im worried about a slight tensioner noise on startup, which I noticed went away soon after the RP went it, but the colder weather brought it back. Its going this week, Ill analyze it too since I have a BStone kit in my toolbox. I get a deal through my parts suppier (WorldPAC) and since its my car they give me their price. They carry almost any boutique oil available, every Motul except the 300v (special order) Pentosin, Idemitsu, Eneos, Total, Redline etc.
Nklesan: Motul is a better fluid that Superblue, although most customers ask for the Blue. My only problem is the price point. We like to offer it to some of our customers who like better stuff, boutique oils and the best tires, but not everyone wants or needs, that good of a fluid. Im surprised the blue boiled on you though, my only thoughts would be an older container of it and it absorbed water? Thats my one big drawback with blue, its hard to tell time or condition by looking at it.
Im ordering the Motul tomorrow since WorldPacs closed today (as are we
) I might even use it in my 1.8, the 15/50 in there worries me a little with the temps Im seeing. Will report back.
Yeah, I figured that either I got a "bad bottle(?)" or that perhaps there was an air bubble in my brakes, though I highly doubt the latter as I always flush the new fluid through until I can see the new stuff running out of the caliper. I do it in the proper order, and with many dozens of brake fluid changes on my cars and on friends' cars, I have never gotten air into the system...
The Big Brake Kit was relatively new, and this was in the summer and it was fairly hot out, but even then...it still shouldn't have boiled. If it makes any difference, the brakes I have are the 6piston/4piston (F/R) Monobloc calipers (single piece, "uncoated" finish). I was running StopTech Ultimate "HPDE/Track" Pads and 380/350mm F/R slotted StopTech 2-Piece Floating Rotors (cryo-treated, slots don't extend all the way to the edge of the rotor, and fully-ventilated), and StopTech Stainless Steel brake lines. Also had done an M5 Master Cylinder conversion for the increased capacity of fluid.
That scared me pretty good, especially since those brakes were performing like a CHAMP up until that point... Maybe I was getting overconfident with my new brakes (and "R" rubber), and pushed them harder than they should've been at that point? IDK, can't go back in time...
Anyway, I'll agree that the RBF600/660 is overkill for many, but on the other hand: I would rather every single person buy BETTER THAN NECESSARY brake fluid than know that so many people out there are driving on not just worn pads/rotors/shoes, but with fluid that is 10yrs old and, what, 5% water? Just my opinion, but I think you can understand my point...
BTW, sounds like an AWESOME place to work!
Sincerely,
