Agree, that's where the previously mentioned "index of incapacitation" becomes very relevant!Food for thought my friends.
"You can kill an attacker with a small caliber weapon, problem is they will die after they kill you, most times they don't even realize they've been shot."
When law enforcement still carried revolvers, the two most effective rounds were the Remington 125gr semi-jacked hollow point from a 4" barrel and the FBI's 158gr lead semi-wadcutter hollow point, either would produce a one-shot stop center mass with regularity. Fentynal, heroin and the assortment of drugs on the street today changed the whole paradigm. The .45 acp with 230 grain HST, Gold Dot or Golden Sabre is still very effective when properly applied. Any trauma surgeon will tell you that any hit in the thoracic cavity with a hi-performance round is usually fatal. Of course, 12ga 00 Buckshot at close range is probably the best, but often not readily available when needed. Sad we even have to discuss this, but it's getting to be an ugly world out there. Basic rule: avoid going where you think you might need a gun, but be prepared just in case.
