Looking for a three row SUV for daily driving, camping, and hunting. Kids are 7, 11, and 12, plus one golden retriever and likely a lab in the near future. I have a GM card and will get about 4k off so the Tahoe seems like the leader in that regard.

Anything obvious I am missing? I am aware of the AFM/DFM issues but realistically those should not cause problems for the next five years or so ... at which point we'll probably no longer need a three row anyway. I am a little concerned about the relatively low ground clearance of 8" that I see. Am I gonna be ok with a base model Tahoe and some all terrains driving on forest roads in north Idaho? I don't mind beating up my 2500HD since it's 8 years old with 120k miles on it ... but a 50k brand new Tahoe is a different story!

50k? Better add another 20k to that

The one we were looking at was $92k, and at first I thought too much. Then, I thought, the price is the price, what's the alternative? The thing that bugs me is we're a GM owner since 2011 and I am fully aware of the poor incompetent overpriced service. Buddy took their brand new Traverse in for exhaust failure (known issue covered under warranty) and left paying $700+? Huh?

But I do love the Tahoe--it has a crazy 123 cu ft cargo, which is the equivalent of the previous generation Suburban. Best in class.

We're still trying to put it off and who knows maybe the V8 is gone in the meantime, but I hope not. It's clearly a very good choice in this segment--no other SUV will provide its cargo space. And 2025 is a mild refresh with dash and tails. I was thinking $92k and early 2000's tails? nah lol I was even thinking used Escalade. The 3 year warranty does bug me for that kind of money, should be premium....

I say turn on the Bob Seger, sign on the line, and don't look back!

I’d just get the Suburban if you have 3 kids and a dog or two. I have 3 kids and one dog and it’s perfect for our use. I’m on my 3rd full size GM:

2017 Yukon XL Denali
2021 Suburban Z71
2024 Yukon XL AT4

The 5.3 will be a pooch at altitude when fully loaded but as long as you aren’t in a hurry you’ll get there.

I can’t speak to the ground clearance. I’ve got the air suspension but the rear control arms are the low spot. I do like how the IRS rides vs the solid axle.

Wow, two years ago everything was 65+
We paid 67 for an LT
I mean we all have our priorities and financial limits ... for me, I daily a 2500HD work truck. I think it's incredibly comfortable, if you grew up driving a car from the 60's, the reliability, safety, comfort, noise levels, panel fitment, all of it is just amazing. Just sitting in a base model 2024 Tahoe, it is just unreal how nice they are.

If you have the family and dogs in the car when going somewhere, you're going to want cargo room for suitcases. I hauled my family all around the US in our Suburban. I compared the Tahoe to the Suburban and with all seats occupied, there was no way you could lay a suitcase down in the back lengthwise in the Tahoe, which you can in the Suburban. I own a 2024 Tahoe and this is still the case. I no longer have kids at home and have little need for room for suitcases for a family of five, I chose the Tahoe. It was a good choice for me in both cases.

Consider the 3.0L diesel. The turbo makes great power even going up the grade to the Eisenhower tunnel. With it you'll get about 30MPG on the interstate and 24MPG in town.
