This is GOOD A/C DELCO??

I just want to make sure 100% this is the good A/C DELCO OIL FILTER . Meaning its not the E-CORE

Also onlne it says this Car uses no ADBV however in this pic I think I can see one.
The car is 2007 Trial Blazer with 4.2 V6



Anways... this filter is built nice.

Im pretty sure this is the good one.

However why did A/C make the E-CORES????

Do we have any proof that they are in fact not as good and the E-CORES

AC Delco did not make E-cores. The company that made the filters for AC Delco made E cores. Champ labs is to blame. Why? They tried to make a filter using more "eco friendly" materials. I am guessing cost cutting was also a motivation.

AC Delco still has E core filters, but they have an "E" after the part number. So a PF52 is traditional construction, but a P52E is an E core.

Okay so I was correct, I just wanted to make 100% sure b/c the guy at AAP said they were all E-CORES and said good luck to find the Non E-core brand... I thought what I had was but just wanted to make sure.

Also do you see a ADBV in that oil filter from the pic?

I see a black one.

However online it says ADBV = NONE
and even the FRAM Filter for this truck has no ADBV

however I think this one does

Look inside. If you see perforated metal, not e core.
If you see black plastic 'frame', e core
Also e cores had a different top plate

It's probably an E-core. Is it a PF61E? E is for E-core of course.

edit: somebody beat me to it....

E-core filters are "OK" but after a few questionable pics on here then I stopped liking them. As a side note I bought like 10 E-core Delcos on clearance at walbogs are $1.50 so I'm gonna use them up.

My local OR carries the traditional A/C Delco and it's a good filter and last year I bought PF47 from AAP and it was not e-core.

Nope as it shows in pics its all metal inside....

I even took a 2nd pic so you could see that is a pic i took and not some pic from the web

To me the E-core has suffered much the same fate as Fram. I don't think E-core makes a filter inherently bad anymore than fiber end caps do. I will use an ACD E-core or a Fram Tough Gaurd but the lower tier filters I will not. The problems seem to be more related to a lack of filter media to me, which comes at the lower price point. This is not exclusive to these types of filters, Wix & Baldwin/Hastings make some filters that I wouldn't use either.

Most of the ACD E-cores that I remember seeing posted have not looked too bad.

I run AC Delco oil filters on my vehicles exclusively.

The AC Delco oil filter for the Silverado is a PF48 and I have not come across any e-core PF48 filters.

Just to be sure, I stocked up on AC Delco PF48 oil filters.
