Thinking of TRYING Supertech....

No, I'm just saying that the whole add stuff to fortify your oil thing is a bit needless at this point. And isn't ARX a bit "thick?" Couldn't that conceivably reduce the fuel economy?

Arx is not thick. Have you ever seen or shaken arx at room temp? It's thin. Certainly so at 40 c degrees. It's only when it gets cold that it starts to thicken. I don't imagine you really see much of that once it's mixed in with 4 or more quarts of oil/

Well, an once probably wouldn't make a difference in four or more qts. But I did see a thread here where someone was complaining that it was awful thick when they were pouring it into the sump...

Um, hardly scientific. People have recorded better fuel economies with synthetics, Slick50, etc...

No I know what yo're saying. If you've ever seen it very cold, it gets pretty goopy. But even by the the time reaches 70 f degrees, it's pretty thin. This is why in winter, most folks bring their arx inside for a day before doing an oil change.

I was at Walmart today,(11-16-08). A 5 qt container of

Supertech Full Synthetic was $17.50.
Valvoline Full Synthetic for $19.00.
Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic was $23.00.

Walmart needs to lower price of the Supertech to remain competitive.

I see Canada has trailer parks also.

I agree.

First time poster, long time reader. I was at a Wally today, and as I normally do, I checked out the oil prices. After reading some positive comments on ST, I've been paying closer attention to ST 5w20 prices. Some observations and a question.

At the Wally nearest me, ST 5w20 is $1.88 a quart. I've never seen a 5qt jug of ST in that weight, but the other ST weights are about $9.00. At those prices, ST seems a good value. But, at the Wally I was at today, ST 5w20 was $2.28 a quart, at that price I'm not interested. I ended up buying a 5 qt. jug of 5w20 Valvoline Premium for $12.00. Valvo is hard to find in that weight in jugs, and I have a small stash of V, so I can mix weights if I choose. If I were to buy synthetic I would buy the Valvoline for the $1.50 difference. But, that's just me.

Now the question. Some on this thread have referred to ST 5w20 as semi-synthetic. I've read the container and didn't see the term semi-synthetic. Is ST 5w20, semi-synthetic?
