Thinking of switching to synthetic, right for me or a risk?

You should not have a issue. To meet current specs all PCMO must be compatible with seals. Just use PPHM if you are concerned about possible leaks.

I think you are thinking of "back when....... Ester based"....

and that would be true - - esters could cause leaks in several ways.

I don't see PAO properties causing any leaks.
