jsharp, if you knew what you were talking about you would know that these engines are gear lubricated

Lube Power(tm) Lubrication System Gear-driven system continuously supplies oil to all internal engine parts for extra protection and long life.

Then how come when you click the "specifications" tab in your link, it says SPLASH lubricated?
Who do you believe? Briggs or Briggs?

i have a quantum RIGHT NOW with the side cover off. its got a gear spinning off the crankshaft that has small paddles which splash in the oil and flick oil all around the inside of the engine.
theres no oil pump, theres no forced lubrication. its just a passive system like any other flathead low quality engine.

dont make me go take pictures!

Ding, ding ding, we have a winner here folks. It's "gear driven" splash lube.

good point. would be interesting to know exactly how it lubes. maybe both ways?
but for my purchase, if the engine works well, it does not matter to me. I will not use it winter time and probably not excessive hours either.
