Bang on. The previous owner of my wife's Prius installed a shield over the bottom of the car to slow down catalytic converter thieves. I hate it as rattles like mad. Most self aware Prius driver

A fellow BQE warriorThis guy on the BQE was so far out his mirror clipped mine as he went past.
I got in front of him, put my window down and pointed at my mirror. He was clueless and motioned for me to get in front of him as if that’s what I was saying.
Proof. Poor driving is everywhere. It isn’t personal. And nothing can be done.

I don’t think I have ever sat in one. When I was a kid, I was blown away by Deniro in, “Taxi Driver.” Had a crush on Jodie Foster too. Sometime in the 80’s I wondered where all the Checker cabs went??!!A fellow BQE warrior
Do you also curse Robert Moses on the daily?
I saw this prop taxi today

There are still a few around. Some are used by hotels and restaurants to shuttle guests and patrons. Checker cabs are as iconic as the Austin FX4 1958-1997), the classic London Cab.A fellow BQE warrior

Early '80s Hilux, I think.
When I was a kid I liked drawing taxis and limos. I wrote a short story in 8th grade called “Limo” and I loosely plagiarized Harry Chapin’s, “Taxi.” Back then no AI.There are still a few around. Google says 20 cubic feet with the spare tire. By the way, The last Checker Marathon rolled off the line in 1982 after a 21-year production run. There was also a wagon variant. Both, sedan and wagons, were available in non-taxi versions.I’m curious how many cu ft a Checker’s trunk is.
Supposedly this is from Taxi Driver, and the Ford in the pole position has its hood popped up. I think they thought it helped dissipate heat. Wonder if any truth to that?Google says 20 cubic feet with the spare tire. By the way, The last Checker Marathon rolled off the line in 1982 after a 21-year production run. There's truth to people driving around with the hood popped. I don't think it will prevent heat buildup in a meaningful manner.Supposedly this is from Taxi Driver, and the Ford in the pole position has its hood popped up. I think they thought it helped dissipate heat. Wonder if any truth to that?

With the fan(s) running, the hot air gets forcefully evacuated from the engine compartment even with the hood closed.IANAnE but I'd think it would help some amount as heat wants to rise and would be free to escape rather than sealed in plus greater air flow/circulation when moving by a few / several mph wind blowing into the opening. YMMV
