Twice in the past couple of months I was packed and ready to go to the RR museum, and both times something came up at the last moment that precluded the trip. After Labor Day now seems like a good time. Any suggestions for a good nearby restaurant (easy walking distance), perhaps Mexican?I spent two days in Sacramento over the past 7 days. I had to ly out of there. I took a few picture. I also went to the railroad museum.
We went to Maydoon, a Persian place that had excellent food. That's maybe a bit over a mile from the railroad museum. I posted my kebob picture here. The museum shouldn't be too crowded during the week. Well, depending on your photographic plans it may be too crowded.Twice in the past couple of months I was packed and ready to go to the RR museum, and both times something came up at the last moment that precluded the trip. Looks more interesting than Mexican food. Thanks for the suggestion. My friend was interested in Mex, but it should be easy to get her to consider something else.We went to Maydoon, a Persian place that had excellent food. You will enjoy the museum. It's the size of a large aircraft hangar with multiple locomotives and train cars. They even have a sleeper train car on hydraulics that gives you the sensation of the car moving down the track, sound F/X, and all. There's an extensive exhibition of train toys, dioramas, and model train scenery upstairs.Looks more interesting than Mexican food. Thanks for the suggestion. In case you wonder, there's a parking garage right next to the museum. $3 an hour, I think. We spent about 3 hours there but could have spent more time. The museum was $12 per person. There's more to see than I knew about. I've been thinking of taking Amtrak up there.
Very useful information. Thanks a lot!In case you wonder, there's a parking garage right next to the museum. $3 an hour, I think. We spent about 3 hours there but could have spent more time. The museum was $12 per person.

"White wall" wheels must have been a thing back then. Maybe that carried over to "white wall" tires. Where's the "spinner rims"?
So that is what the pry bar I have is, something for rail. I recall seeing one years ago at a friends house; when I came across one at an estate sale I picked it up, as it's nice as a prybar in the ground (loosening up rocks or what have you). Guessing used to move the track before nailing down?
