My bullet train, named Kodama, has arrived. This is a slow one. It has to stop frequently so it only foes 285 kmh/177mph. The fastest ones make it to 200 mph.

I have arrived in Kyoto where I will spend two days. The gates prevent people from falling onto the tracks. It can get crowded!

A strawberry sandwich. White bread (!) strawberries, and whipped cream. What was I thinking? Ah yes, impending twin-engine failure. Why not live a little?

Two minutes later, Mount Fuji in the background. I could see Mount Fuji for 15 minutes.
Made it to Narita, Tokyo. Duty-free shopping.

The food court at Terminal 2 at Narita. I abstained.
My inflight meal across the Pacific was pork over rice and little things
