Toyohashi Station in Toyohashi City, catching a Shinkansen to Kyoto earlier today.

My bullet train, named Kodama, has arrived. This is a slow one. It has to stop frequently so it only foes 285 kmh/177mph. The fastest ones make it to 200 mph.

Another bullet train pulled up next to my train

Leaving the station

Getting cloudy and dark

Getting sunny

Rice ball and barley tea

I have arrived in Kyoto where I will spend two days. The gates prevent people from falling onto the tracks. It can get crowded!

Hopefully that nigiri doesn't have an umeboshi surprise in it. 🤢

The last few pictures from my Japan trip.

Chubu (Nagoya) International Airport terminal

A strawberry sandwich. White bread (!) strawberries, and whipped cream. What was I thinking? Ah yes, impending twin-engine failure. Why not live a little?

Taking off from Chubu

3 minutes out from Nagoya, Chito Peninsula below

Two minutes later, Mount Fuji in the background. I could see Mount Fuji for 15 minutes.

Made it to Narita, Tokyo. Duty-free shopping.

I'm where it says 'YOU ARE HERE.'

The food court at Terminal 2 at Narita. I abstained.

My inflight meal across the Pacific was pork over rice and little things
