Hello everyone. My subaru is leaking oil from the head gasket and is getting worse since I started useing Rotella T5. I used it because i thought it would be pretty thick thus slowing the leak. I noticed it leaked alot slower with Castrol High Mileage but i hate castrol products. Im thinking the T5s higher syn content is why its leaking more. Would a conventional High Mileage oil like Pennzoil be better? Im trying to slow the leak and not put more than the cars value into getting the leak fixed. Thanks in advance to all who answer.

Im tryin to run a thick oil to slow it. I know I cant stop it. What is a good thicker oil?
Will 10w-40 hurt my gas mileage much? I love my scoobie because it gets awesome mpgs while goin anywhere anytime.
Pennzoil High Mileage in 10w40 might help. Gas mileage difference between that and Rotella would likely be too close to even measure.
The rotella is 10w30.

You said Castrol High Mileage slowed down the leak BUT you hate Castrol products. Why may I ask do you hate them?
I THINK it slowed it because it is basically conventional. But i hate castrol becasue its made by BP. I hate BP because they still havent said sorry for the oil spill. In all honesty I just hate forest green.
I wanna try Pennzoil High Mileage but I need to figure out whether i need 30 or 40.
And I owe thanks to whoever recommended Maxlife 10w-40 for my VQ. It loves the stuff. It barely consumes it or leaks it now.
Ok. I just hope i dont take a noticeable hit to my mpg. It seems to get close to 30 on the highway. Its impressive.

Maybe try some 20W50 Maxlife?

Liqui-moly motor oil saver will stop the leak,and you can use it with any oil.
