Thermostat WITH the seal?

I've ran across the most irritating thing. For my '05 Expedition 5.4 3v hardly anyone makes a thermostat with the seal. You have to buy the friggin thing separately. The only mfg I see on rock auto with a seal is Motorad and I have no confidence in that brand.

Thoughts?

Same thing with the water pump it appears. Even the Motorcraft doesn't state it comes with an o ring.

Unfortunately that seems to be pretty standard and not exclusive to 4.6/5.4 mod motors. The only exception I've seen recently is on GM Ecotecs where the thermostat is integrated into the water outlet.

The only t-stat I can think of offhand that Ford sells with thh seal is the one for the 7.3L diesel. It is always separate as it is a separate part, according to parts catalogs.

Nothing on Rocks list is worth a P hole in the snow except the Motorcraft and that one looks like a specialized application.
Buy critical components like this from the dealer. Personally I wouldn't risk an engine on a $4 piece of junk thermostat.
I saw that for like $30. That's just too bizarre. I guess I could check the gestapo on the way home.

From most OEMs/manufacturers the only way you get the seal with the stat is if the thermostat goes into the seal, like on a GM 3.1/3.4/3.8. Reason being is that you could have the same thermostat in several different housings in different applications that would require multiple seals to be packaged with the stat. On that one the thermostat drops into the intake manifold and the seal goes on top and is compressed by the water outlet

I forgot to mention that applications where the thermostat is part of a housing, like a lot of the 4cyls, the seal will obviously come on the housing.

It is extremely common to have the gasket NOT come with a part in the OEM world. Ford doesn't include gaskets with IACs when they used to. The old fuel filters that use the white or black clips, don't come with the clips anymore either.
