I think you have made a good decision. You may want to extend OCIs in the future and, as I noted above, your trip could be the kick off for that. I am in transition from a lifer 3000 or less mile oil changer to extended changes. I have two vehicles currently at 4000 miles and 3500 on their OCIs and still going. What helps suppress the urge to do recreational oil changes is to make blotters of the oil every 500 miles to monitor the oil condition. That way you are still playing with oil. You also can change the power steering fluid or transmission fluid while you are waiting.quote:

Thanks for all of the comments guys. It's great to be around people who think like yourself! I've got to tell ya after reading the posts, I am inclined to go ahead and change it. I don't smoke, I don't drink, I don't gamble, I am married and don't have a girlfriend on the side so if changing my oil brings me pleasure, then why not?! God Bless BITOG!![]()
You can do them daily and hang them around the house for a nice fragrant effect. Just smelling the used oil brings a peaceful feeling as your inner being relates to many joyful past oil change experiences.quote:

Gary you know this is going to start a debate on who makes the best patch, how long should it be left on, will it clash with nicotine patches, etc etc.Is that squeaky noise I hear a can of worms opening?quote:

You can always try "the patch". It's been effective in investigative trails. Allegedly 62% did less oil changing in a double blind test vs. pleceboes.![]()
