That's why my Integra manual says change filter every other oil change.

What year is your Integra? They didn't have that recommendation until later models, IIRC. 94-95 say to change it with every oil change (although I'm sure you don't have to)

Mine is 97. But I always change the filter. luckily I don't drive it that much these days so i only need to change it one a year.

Slapping on a piece of grip tape can help with tight filters, but the ultimate filter tool is the chain-ViceGrip.

OH - I used to think the Pont./Chev./Olds minivans were bad, but we get so many of them at our shop, I've gotten them pretty down pat - but I still struggle with 2.2 Cav/Sunfires!

The old 2.2L engines were bad - the new 2.2L ecotecs (2003+?) have the top end filter - those rock

Some of them have a noise shield that get in the way.

That in mind, it still is much less work than getting a filter off a 2.2 OHV.

Didn't the Fiat engine have to be replaced every year or 5000 miles anyway?

My mother's '94 Saturn SL2 was a pisser. The oil filter was in an odd location and spilled oil all over the place.

Easiest would be my girlfriend's old '01 V6 Mustang.

Agreed. It is a real tough one, especially considering that they designed the oil to drain onto various crossmembers, axles, exhaust pipe, etc., and if you want to changeyour oil hot... youre in for burns fromthe tortuous path you have to take to get to the filter.

The earlier model has the PCV under the intake manifold tucked between the firewall and the engine. The later one move it to the more normal location on the valve cover.

Lexus RX 300 is absolutely terrible. The oil filter is hidden under the exhaust manifold so you have to take it off from the bottom. You have to remove the splash guard from the under side of the radiator. Then it's still a reach with a 45 degree turn. Now, try doing it hot!

Worst, because of the filter location, post '98 (maybe '99, never saw one) Ford Expeditions/Navigators. You can SEE the filter, but it's very difficult to get a wrench on it, and there are a couple of those hose clamps with the whetstone sharpened edges positioned perfectly to chew up your arm. It looks like you've been battling a wildcat every time you finish an OC.

The easiest I've ever seen were the ones on my '98 Expedition and the wife's '05 Freestyle. Filters are right there just behind the front bumper. Piece of cake!!

My wife's old 1997 Saturn SL1 was the worst oil change ever.

Car was very low to the ground and the filter was somewhere in the back of the engine about midway up and required you to really reach up there to get it...not so easy because the car was so low to the ground that you had to jack it up just to get under the thing! Plus I remember requiring to bend my arm in just the right way to actually get to the filter.

My old 1988 Sentra was the easiest...

02 Focus for me. The filter is on the backside of the engine and to get to it you have reach through the exhaust, axle and cross-member. I don't remember my Escort 2.0 being that hard. My Aspire's and Festiva's are the same design but I can reach those from the top.

Ive really only driven BMWs since I got my license.. and the oil filter is BAM right there on top. My little sister could do it.
