The Worst Car you ever changed oil on?

My fiancee's 1995 Ford Escort was a challenge. Precisely zero clearance for a ratchet on the drain plug, and the filter was in a spot my arm had to do some serious contorting to reach.

My old Hyundai Elantra and my current Buick LeSabre are pretty easy to change. The Hyundai had the filter at the front of the engine clear from everything and the drain plug located nearby, also easy to get a wrench on. The Buick's plug is clear, and the filter is also in an open area. Have to wipe oil off of the front subframe after doing the filter, though.

My 2003 Camry I4 is preety bad and so was my 2001 Dodge Dakota with 4.7V8 My Mothers Tundra with 4.7V8 is not that much fun either! The wifes 1997 Buick is a cake walk it is one of the few things I like about her car!

Oh the old Cadilacs with the 4.1 and latter engines had the oil filter on top right next to an exhaust collector. You always got burnt if the engine was hot!

Why do you think the 2AZ-FE is so bad to do oil changes on?

Those Sunfires/Cavaliers with the old 2.2L motor and the automatic trans aren't too bad to change oil on them.

You just need to use a ratcheting box wrench to get the oil drain plug off (can't use a socket, no room).

You need to get the oil filter from the top, at the back of the motor.

Its a pain in the rear. You need to use sandpaper on your hand to get the filter off, and install the new one.

Make sure the motor is cool, you are right near the header lol.

My vote would be for the 94-97 ford tbird or mercury cougar with the 4.6L v8.

The oil filter is right up against the factory front swaybar. Absolutely no room to get it off.

Apparently Darwin was present when I tried pulling my friend's cavy filter off ASAP... After he drove twenty-some miles to my house...

Ouch.

I was going to ask the same thing. I've had two of these engines and they are one of the easiest to change the oil on. Filter in front of the engine, not near the exhaust, easy to get to from the bottom.

(Far easier than a 2.0L Ford Contour and 4.6L Ford T-Bird, I saw I wasn't the only one to have to try those as someone else posted about them recently, not to mention my former in-laws Honda CR-V which was also a pain...)

oilBabe has a 2002 Camry with the 2.4L 4 banger and it's a snap to change the oil.

1st Gen? I just did that. Filter is in the back of the engine but there is plenty of arm room and a nice empty space around and behind the filter for access. I thought it was easier than our I-30, and about the same as my E30 BMW, where it is tucked in behind the exhaust manifold and downpipes (but, again, plenty of space for access).

I have never had a car where an oil change was not a very quick and easy job though.

It took me a while to figure out how to get my short, thick arms up there and get a good grip on the filter.

I only did it once. My ex-wife soon had her affair after that and needless to say the oil changes for her parents came to an abrupt halt.

Something just rubbed me the wrong way when they had the OM over for the holidays while he was still married to his wife and my now ex-wife was still married to me.

I'm funny that way, LOL.

Yeah, the first gen CR-V and also the Acura Integra (which is very similar, B-Series motor) are really easy to work with. Like you said, plenty of arm room even if it is above the CV-joint. The filter on the Kia Sephia is in the same location, only a little higher up with NO room to work with what-so-ever, and it makes it so much harder than it needs to be.
