You totally misquoted and added that last little sentence on your own. You also cut off the text before it, which explains I was referencing synthetic havoline.

Plain Havoline is readily available here everywhere from Walmart to any farm supply store and even the chain auto parts stores like Advanve Auto Parts, O'Reillys and such stock it.

I was in fact amazed when I read this thread and it's not as available in the rest of the country. I always thought it was one of the main contenders.

Yes, Rite Aid did indeed carry the Havoline oils in different weights, then Rite Aid began discounting it down to .99 per qt and I was scrambling to score as much as I could. Also about the same time Big Lots had the Havoline synthetic 5w-40 for $1.99 per qt, which I got about 80 qts.

My local Wal-Mart never quit carrying Havoline, it's the cheapest Conventional oil in the aisle...not counting Super Tech of course.

Same here. Probably the most popular oil in this area if one asked around. .

I bought a wicked stash of the Texaco branded Havoline starting a year and a half ago when I first heard it was being re-branded! I know-"what is in a name?". LOL. Two many memories of the star while growing up I guess!

Hey Mount--I agree that it is one of the main contenders up here in our part of the country. With that being said I do find it a bit strange that we cannot locate Havoline synthetic anywhere. One would think that if the conventional was popular, they would make the synthetic available also. Kind of perplexing. Wonder if it is a marketing thing in our area or just a supply/distribution issue....I would like to find the reason.

Nope!don't have Campbell's up here. You say they used to stock it. I take it they don't anymore. Is that correct? Do you know of anywhere else that does down there--I'm a good 350 miles from Chamberlain if that's where you live-(nice town by the way)-wife and I stayed there overnight on the way back from Fort Collins last summer. I've got some friends that live in various places around you that would be able to pick some up for me if you know where some of that Havoline Synthetic is.Definetly want to give it a try.

We see it all over in South Dakota. Can't hardly walk into an auto parts store without seeing Havoline "something" at first or second glance. Not that it's a bad thing. In fact, I've never tried Havoline so I can't really say but I've heard good things about them.

Yes, I'm in Chamberlain. Campbell's may still carry it. I just haven't been in their store for a while. I have to take a trip to Sioux Falls on Friday or Saturday. I will check to see if Havoline Synthetic is still available.

In upstate South Carolia Hav o lean is still very easy to find. I still miss the Texaxo brand. My first part-time job in 1972 was at a Texaco station in my home town of Honea Path, SC.
I just looked at the bottles of 10 w 30 that I bought yesterday, noticed the Chevron emblem on the bottle.

I made it to Sioux Falls Friday night. I almost didn't make it home. Fishtailed on the hiway. Luckily, I was able to keep it on the road and keep from rolling my truck.

Got to Sioux Falls just a little after 7 p.m. Campbell's Supply was already closed (go figure!). Anyway, their phone number is (605) 336-2494. There is also a Campbell's in Madison SD. Phone number is (605) 256-4545 if you want to call and verify that they have Havoline synthetic.

It seems to me that Wal-Mart and Pierre was carrying Havoline synthetic at one time. This was a surprise, because I don't recall any other WM's carrying Havoline synthetic.

When I get out of town again, I will check to personally verify who carries Havoline synthetic. Let me know if I can further assist you. And good luck in your hunt.

otis 24--Thanks for checking on the Havoline--I'll try those phone numbers.Been busy up here with all of the snow that dumped on us in the last 2 days.I knew that this nice winter we've been having would'nt last. Hope those places have the Havoline Synthetic as I will be making a trip down there in approx. 3 weeks.Walmarts up here do not carry the Synthetic.

I remember in the 1990's, the Walmart I worked for carried Havoline 5w30 anfd 10w30, and it was $1.98/quart, which was a good chunk cheaper than other name-brand oils. I used to buy it as top-off oil.

There is now only 1 store in my area now (PartsSource) that carries Havoline 5w30 and 10-30. Still a good price at $3.99/quart....haven't bought it in a while, tho.

Talked to my oil rep who delivers our cases of oil. He stated that at one dealership that he goes to, a lady would come in for oil changes and bring her own oil. She had several cases of Havolilne in the metal cans that her husband had bought and stocked up on. He told the shop just to use new oil and put the old in the back and he would trade it out for new oil.

That seems to be a bit unscruplous unless the customer agreed to it. Even though the new formulation of Havoline may be superior, the vintage oil may have some "collector's value" that the oil rep is trying to capitalize on. It also puts the dealership in jeopardy of a fraud claim.

This thread gave me the urge and I just checked my stash. My Havoline supply stands at 46 quarts not counting the 4 currently in the sump. Most is Texaco branded but I do have a few newer Chevron jugs.

I'm probably set till the next API spec comes out...

My local Wal-Mart has 2-5 quart jugs of 10W30 stuck back in a odd place , they have been there for a while, im going to check with the manager soon and see if i can score them Cheap..
